How much you will need to bring for a trip to Japan

Hi all the gurus here, any idea how much will food cost for a couple? Will be visiting Tokyo,Yokohama and Nikko. We don't need any Michelin food, appreciate it.

didnt really notice if there is. just that their GST went from 5% to 8% now.
simple meals from small eateries such as those selling ramen or oyaku don is still around 700-1000yen

I'm bringing about 2k for food. Hopefully it's enough. Most likely will be bring some sgd over too just in case..

I brought about 185,000 yen to Tokyo for 2 pax.

8 days 7 nights.

All transport and food covered, including a good dinner at Kanesaka which came up to about 48,000 plus buying a jacket at 20,000.

Didn't had to really watch budget much, and it was quite a good amount to play with.

Drinking lots of coffee and eating here and then, would say it's quite worth it actually.

Yen finished on the 5th day. 6th and 7th day need to use CC all the way.

Honestly changing SGD to yen in tokyo is pathetic, 100 SGD can get only 8154yen at Shinjuku......

380k yen is more than $4k!! which means u spend on average $800 a day for the first 5 days O_O

this 380K is purely spending on food, transport, shopping that requires payment in cash. we spend quite a bomb at the Gotemba outlets as the branded there is cheap! we also spend quite abit at tokyo disneyland buying souvenirs for our baby boy.

we were thinking we won't be back to tokyo for the foreseeable future and even if we do , we will bring along our boy, hence we ate all the good stuffs and enjoy first LOL.

I would like to ask for mine too

14 days in Osaka and Tokyo, including USJ and DisneySea. Accommodation and JRpass settled. Will mostly go for non-atas food places plus some shopping and visitings.

Will 2k be enough?

I recently just went for 12days to Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo.

Excluding accomodations, JRpass and USJ+DisneySea tickets, I spent 2k on food+shoppings (including shopping at USJ and DisneySea) +admission to museums + transportation.

it was justtttt nice, came back with few hundreds yen only. But I also bought quite abit of food and souvenirs back.

Change all your yen here definitely better. By the middle of your trip you should already have some indication of whether enough jpy or not, if not enough then use more credit card lo.

A lot depends on how's much you want to shop. But branded stuff off course not enough

Moderate can get by with yen4k a day for food and transport excluding shopping.
Moderate meaning don't have to get all means from konbini (convenience shops)
