I used to do it every year, but have stopped doing this for some time now. No point chasing after the newest. Just a meaningless chase. Save the money and time to spend with family is better.

The graphics card hierarchy chart is to help you judge if a card is a good buy or not. It groups graphics cards with similar overall performance levels into tiers. The top tier contains the highest-performing cards available and performance decreases as you go down the tiers from there.

You can use this hierarchy to determine if an upgrade is worthwhile. I don’t recommend upgrading your graphics card unless the replacement card is at least three tiers higher. Otherwise, the upgrade is somewhat parallel and you may not notice a worthwhile difference in performance.

3 to 5yrs.. looking for abour 40%-50% performance boost

gtx 580(2010) > gtx 980(2014) > gtx 980ti(2015, got it for a really good price) > gtx 1080ti(nov 2018, got it brand new and at an incredible price as well lol)

In the last two years, GTX 690 -> GTX 1060 -> GTX 1070 -> GTX 1050Ti -> GTX 1070Ti

My computer now using gt 730 . Just upgraded to 1050 ti. Went to benchmark to compare like 524% increase in effective speed. Lol
