How to solve power issue with PC?

Hi guys, I bought a custom built PC just yesterday. When I brought it home and tried powering up, it couldn't. The fans and motherboard lights started for one second and it dies off after. I brought the PC back to the shop today and it could start up properly, but when I bring back home and tried on every power socket, the same problem comes back. My HDB flat is more than 20 years old, could it be that the home power supply isn't enough to power up my PC? I'm running a system that's running on a 600W PSU. Would appreciate some feedbacks on what to do, thanks a lot guys

HDB power supply is more than adequate. I have two PCs running off the same socket.

I suggest you try a different power cable and reseat the GPU and memory.

Yup every wall socket in my house. I tried with the other cable that my monitor used and it's the same.

Yeah problem definitely not with the PC, wondering if I should get an electrician down to check on my house. Or maybe get a lower watt PSU?

how about you try just plug only your computer without plugging other stuff in.. like mouse, kb, monitor, etc etc..

Yup, both power supply cable works on my monitor but not the PC

U got try sockets that confirm working and used to power higher powered devices like kettle or fridge? To rule out PC problem first.

Or it could be intermittent issues. Just so heng u go back the shop it started working. Rarely home power not enuf to power ur PC. If ur socket cannot draw enuf power most likely ur circuit breaker will trip first.

Test ur socket with other confirm working device too

Second this, most likely intermittent issue with the power supply. Had a similar problem a few years ago with my rig( most parts new, power supply bought from another hwz bro)
Sometimes I get power for 1 second and sometimes it just can't get any, bought the rig back to sls to test and everything was running smooth. Lucky for me the shop owner suggested might be intermittent issue, tested positive for the issue when I bought the psu for RMA, got a replacement and viola, problem solved

1) When you bring it to him did he touch the insides?

2) Could be grounding issue. Check your power cable.

Last time I got 1 PC similar symptoms. One day can start, other days cannot (Get power for 1 sec then die). Try many times then managed to get it to start. Then sometimes use halfway suddenly no power

In the end change PSU then problem solved.

TS can test with another PSU. If the other PSU working on the PC, then u can go and RMA the PSU

Okay guys, I've just returned from Malaysia trip. I've tried plugging into my fridge's wall socket and it's still the same. If it's really an intermittent problem then I'm really super suay. I've arranged for the shop's tech to come down to my house tonight and replace the PSU, let's hope it goes well.

I bought it at Scorpia @ SLS.

Anyway he came by my house and did a testing with a lower watt PSU and the same thing happened. However, when he used the 4 pin CPU connector instead of the 8 pin CPU connector, the PC started working. He then tested the electrical stuffs with equipments and found that we are actually experiencing an electrical surge, which is weird because the HDB breaker did not cut off the supply to the whole house. He's taking my unit back and will replace the Z270 motherboard with a Z97 one and see what happens, probably needs less stable power since it doesn't overclock.

Is there a major difference between the Z270 and the Z97 motherboard?

Modern PSU's test their voltages with the motherboard when they startup. If the voltage isnt clean enough, it will turn back off. This sounds like what you are experiencing. The voltage in your house/area may not be of sufficient grade to pass the power on self test. It may be good enough at times and it runs this test at startup only.
