Actually either Netflix or Hulu Plus have it's own set of contents which does not overlap each other - i guess it's provider own the rights of the contents.

I prefer the movies on Netflix as they are more popular similar to the TV shows on Hulu Plus. There are some TV shows that I prefer Netflix over Hulu Plus such as Breaking Bad + The Walking Dead however Hulu Plus have up to date reality shows....

That's why I subscribed to both services.

It's definitely much cheaper than subscribing to the HBO pack from starhub :p and why it's cheaper for me because i'm sharing the accounts with a couple of other trusted friends.

yes. its much more worthwhile.. you can read this article for their comparison and also installation instructions.. i got netflix and never looked back.

thanks for the suggestions...after trying feedback from myrepublic and also vpn, i decided to go with vpn.. spent at least the last week researching into it and here are my humble views...

chose the telcos fibre over MR due to tech support..i got singtel...pretty shiaatty at times but i can get the technician over 24/7. speed also quite fast..

so my combo will be retaining my fibre with vpn. Then there is the comparison over free vpn vs paid, and DNS vs VPN.

To keep the long story short, I chose paid VPN as it offers me better security due to encrpytion of traffic data.. For free vpn and DNS, your traffic data is seen by those companies who provide the service, so they can see exactly the sites u go, etc. And since there is credit card information involved, I do not want to risk that just for movies..

but then again, thats my opinion..

You know, even with encrypted VPN, those companies who provide the (VPN) service _still_ can see your traffic exactly the same way.

In the first place, all credit card info should have been sent securely. So VPN with or without encryption tend to matter less. That said, the security principle of defense-in-depth will recommend the VPN to be encrypted. :)

which is why using DNS method may be simpler, by just keying in the DNS sever IP in your AppleTV or media device, and you are done. Only your media device is looking up and using that DNS server, which doesn't affect your PC/laptop/Mac which remain using your ISP's DNS server if you so choose to.

For the case of Chromecast, its also a 2 liner iptables rules that I did mentioned in that thread ..the other computers/phones/tablets on my home network continue using my ISP's DNS and so I don't have to tunnel all my traffic over :D

Coming back to my earlier question, is anyone here on MyRepublic Teleport service and are able to watch Netflix on your Android tablet?

I can open up the Netflix app on my Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014) and browse the catalogue. However when I tried to play any show, I got the 12001 error.

https://help.netflix.com/en/node/2341

Clear the Netflix application data
Navigate to Settings.
Under Device, choose Application manager.
Select Netflix.
Choose Clear data, then OK.
Re-enter the Netflix application and try playing again.

12001 Erorr - Nexflix App - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com

does it help?

I have tried powering off the tablet and clearing the app data but unfortunately, my situation remains the same.

If yours work and you are not using MyRepublic's Teleport service, then that would seem to be the culprit. However I find it hard to understand why that is the case, as I am able to watch Netflix on my PC and laptop.

Do you have any idea what could be the issue? Thanks you.

I'm not on MR only using DNS trick..

My friend on MR said sometimes he get that, so he clear data and try login again and pray it works.. :s13: or u could try hardcode MR's DNS in your tablet's wifi setting instead of auto/router IP..

Staehub broke the logic. I make something like unotelly as well and it doesn't work with starhub. I test using singtel and m1 mobile tethering and it works. Only starhub can't use.

So, for netflix or geoblock sites fan. DO NOT use starhub

At my home I use Freedom VPN from ViewQwest to watch netflix. Super HD streams flawlessly without any issues and with 5.1 surround sound.

Guys, could I ask how you're paying for Netflix? I'm not having much success with a local credit card, paypal, nor US debit card.
