Finally took the plunge and bought a carbon grey set. Here are my thoughts after a week of use, compared with my 5mth old Huawei P9:

Build & Design
Both the P9 and 10 have excellent build quality, but I have to say the 10 just edges the P9 out. Look and feel in hand is just top notch. Plus the curved back of the 10 makes it easier to handle and the front facing fingerprint scanner is more convenient, esp when mounted to hp holder in car.

Screen
Frankly, quite underwhelmed by 10's screen. It seems dim and has pinkish tint. My P9 gives overall better viewing experience despite being only 1080p compared to 10's 2k display.

Camera
The P9 seriously has an underrated camera. Fantastic dynamic range, nice Leica film modes to make your pictures pop, crazy amount of different functions and shooting modes you can play with. It's good in low-light too. The 10 has a great camera as well, but I think P9 has slightly better image quality, and is a more consistent shooter. I get less blurred / out-of-focus shots with the P9 even though it doesn't have OIS compared to the 10.

However, both still can't hold a candle to my 1.5 yo LG G4, which imo still is still one of the best mobile cams.

Battery
Both get good battery but my P9 has slightly better SOT for my usage (5.5 hrs) compared to 10 (5 hrs). Both have power saving mode activated.

Speed
I'm not a benchmarks person or heavy gamer, but I think the P9 outperforms the 10 in day-to-day use. Apps load and install faster, downloads are faster on the P9. Surprising as I thought the SD820 on the HTC 10 would outperform the Huawei. The P9 runs less hot too.

Sound
Frankly, am not ultra-impressed with the speakers on the 10, despite the marketing hype. Sounds about the same as bottom mono speaker on P9. In fact, P9 speaker gets louder. Headphone wise, the 10 delivers better sound quality than P9, though not by a huge margin. That said, I'm not really an audiophile so my ears may not be so trained to pick out the nuances.

Software
Clear win for the HTC here. I dislike the garish interface of the P9. Nova launcher helps but overall the P9 settings menu is a nightmare to navigate. But it's features-packed, if thats what you're looking for. HTC software is neat and clean, but there are also some questionable decisions (no HTC gallery, no HTC music app, cannot customise shortcuts on notification shade).

Overall
Both are good phones, but i think the P9 offers better value-for-money at this point. Cheaper, and imo, a slightly better phone than the 10.

What kind of data?

Either use cloud, bluetooth, or via comp to transfer personal data.

Sync apps data to Google, e.g., wifi access points config, etc.

Whatsapp, sync to Google drive, restore on new phone.

Apps re-download, don't see any reason why you would want to "copy"/"transfer" apps from one phone to another.

Contact sync to Google contact.

If you have been using cloud storage, you don't even need to do any transfer.

hi bluedub & duriancake,

Hope you are enjoying your 10 :)

Can i request some help from both of you ? Help to write to HTC CEO Miss Cher Wang, to solve my M8 problem. I need much more support from HTC fans, to push for my request.

I remember very well, that Duriancake bought another 10 at a much cheaper price :)

My recently purchased used M8 keep failing twice, after phone flashed to 6.0 at their service centre.

It hang after boot up, prompting "Unfortunately, the process com.android.systemui has stopped"

I cannot use the phone anymore.

I have sent an email to HTC CEO Miss Cher Wang on Sunday, have not gotten any reply from HTC.....below is my email

Subject: M8 hang twice after on Marshallow, flashed from service centre

Hi Mrs Cher,

My M8 was flashed to Marshmellow Android OS on August 2016, from singapore service centre

However, the phone has crashed once, prompting "Unfortunately, the process com.android.systemui has stopped"

i am able to boot up the phone, but the above dialogue box appeared after going to main screen. Thus, i am totally unable to use the phone anymore

Sent to service centre again & flashed it again, hang the second time, not even a month of usage

Can you help on this matter again, why does the phone keep hanging. Can you help to remedy this problem ?

Please contact me at my mobile +65 97625518 for rectification.

Hope to receive a favourable reply from HTC.......

Thanks & best Regards
Mr Foo

hi all, HTC One M8 will be my last HTC phone.

Will not buy HTC 10 anymore, because the mobile division already in discussion for selling it away.

I honestly hope Huawei will buy over the division, place HTC software into Huawei smartphone, further improve their software & operating system, beyond HTC capabilities.

Since HTC could not push their product well, let Huawei do it

I have purchased a P9 yesterday evening, still learning it's interface :)

So? So what if its being sold off, and it is not official yet.
Any link or something we can refer to?

Anyway, unless HTC really have a 180 degree change in their software, then I might consider it..

But the TEN is still e 10!
At least for now, lol

Looks like Nougat is rolling out for unlocked devices in the US.

not sure when it'll reach here. judging by how we're still on the August security patch I'm guessing next year
