different processors. Legend use v6+VFP. Snapdragon like Desire use V7, those older ones use V6.

this is strange.
task killer is supposed to allow us to kill unwanted processes and therefore increase the batt life and boast performance.

Yup but it is stock froyo though. You might miss your htc widgets ~

I'm not using a legend so i can't comment. However that is the site which i used to root my HTC Magic.

So it's all up to you guys.
