Hi Guys

Just want to check how you all setup your HTPC.

What hardware/software you use and how you link it to your Home HDTV/Home Theater?

I been using mpc-hd with LAV Decorder, link to denon avr.

Am trying to setup SVP for 60fps playback

SVP is cpu intensive. If you wanna use that you might wanna go for an i5 at least.

As of now I'm using a raspberry Pi with xmbc for streaming and another mITX i5 3570 system with hd7850 (1gb variant) for SVP and 4K 30hz playbacks, and a bit of console-like gaming with game pads. Audio I'm using an RME hammerfall hdsp to genelec 8030a.

How much is your budget?

Hmm. You're using a GPU? Try offloading to it.

GPU-acceleration (Open CL) already enable.

This is my current setting. If I set anything else for motion vector precision, CPU will max at 100%.

I keep seeing waves around the bodies when playing fast moving movies. Already lower settings.

Did you install the Intel graphic driver correctly?

If you did, Intel HD graphic should have no problem playing Full HD movies with graphic accelerated playback.

Unless you are trying to playback UHD movies??? That I have no idea.

And what are all these SVP MPC-HD things? Players? Were hardware accelerated playback enabled with them?

I'm using 750ti. Guess SVP is CPU bound.
i3 is been pushed to limit :(

I3 is more than capable to playback full HD video with the onboard graphic. Let alone a 750TI.

This is not hardware issue for sure. Get you software players and codecs right. Sure can be solved one way or another.

Seems a lot more work to be done.

SVP plays back video at higher frame rates. Can check it out hereSmoothVideo Project (SVP) - motion estimated frame interpolation with any video player and frame doubling in real-time

TS, your com seems more than equipped to run SVP. I'm not really sure though why it's not performing. :(

Are you running reclock?
I use LAV audio decoder no issue to passthrough DTA MA and DD Hd to avr. But problem comes in when running reclock.

Reclock is do what one? :o

without reclock, you will see framedrops or frame repeats appears regulary

Example:

Your video: 23.976 fps
After SVP: 23.976 * (5:2) = 59.94 fps
Your display: 60.002 Hz

59.94 not equal to 60.002

Reclocking can be thought of as "refreshing" or "regenerating" a signal.
When a clock signal, typically some variation on a square wave that is pulse-width modulated, is run over a long length of cable it can suffer significant degradation. This can take the form of noise and interference, decrease in amplitude, and most significantly "rounded edges" (essentially low-pass filtering of the signal due to the capacitance of the cable). If this degradation becomes too severe the clock signal can be rendered unusable.
To prevent this a reclocking device can be inserted in the signal chain. This device uses the incoming signal as a template to regenerate a new signal with the same characteristics. Just as you are still able to read the sentence "Th q ick br n f x umped ov r the l zy dog." and re-write it as "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.", a reclocking device can "read" incoming clock signals with missing information and "rewrite" them in their originally intended form.

Are you sure you are doing this right?

I think I had the same problem as you before, after I got my lowly philip 5.1 receiver.

Rightfully, you want to send the audio as "raw" or "bitstream" out through the HDMI such that, the decoding is done by your receiver instead of the PC. In such case, there should be nothing much to install on your pc as long as to make sure it can send out as "raw" or "bitstream".

I am under impression that, unless you have those PC multimedia 5.1 speakers that has 6 line out from your audio jacks behind your motherboard, then only you need to install all the software DTS or DD5.1 decoder in your pc. And that's also provided your sound card is DTS or DD5.1 compliant.

After couple of try, I gave up on windows & use linux & had some successes on 5.1 via XBMC DTS & DD5.1 decoding.

DTS or DD5.1 is just too complicated on PC whatsoever.

On the minix android tv boxes, I have DD5.1 & DTS 5.1 from MX player & XBMC easily, using similar setup of going "raw" or "bitstream".

Hope I'm right about above explanation.

Denon 1513.

after I set this config in reclock now can get DD Hd and DTS MA in AVR :)

No idea but on avr able to see dts ma and DD true Hd. :D
Took quite long to figure out as what you mentioned not easy to get the configuration right for DTS.
Google search also a lot of diff answer for the codec settings
