Still contemplating whether to get...

Reasons for choosing Note 8 over Mate 10
1. Samsung mah...
2. Aspect ratio
3. Easier to hold
4. Somehow looks more modern because of #2
5. Curve
6. Multiwindows that are like those on computers
7. Most importantly, pen
8. 2x zoom
9. Better screen quality
10. Edge functions (Yes, some of us do use them)
11. Taller so keyboard blocks less vertical space.
12. Easier to use with one hand
13. Always on display

Reasons for choosing Mate 10 over Note 8
1. Dual speakers
2. Shd be better battery
3. Wider screen so can read more on each line
4. IR
5. volume and power keys on the same side
6. no need to use Dex
7. shd be better GPS underground
8. Camera can set to silent if i am not mistaken
9. Fingerprint scanner is better and in front
10. Fingerprint scanner can do navigation
11. Lighter
12. Shd be better at low light photos
13. Not likely to slow down over time unlike samsung phones usually

Simple, bro! :)

You just need to prioritize one thing between the 2 putting aside all other mentioned factors. The CAMERA!

If you want the best camera (Don't talk about Pixel 2. It's not for everyone), go for Note 8! Else, go for Mate 10 for its 16:9 ratio and bezel-less flat screen and its quite good camera! :s22:

Really? I don't really care about Korean brands.. No point paying so much money. Pixel 2 camera is actually the best right now. haha.

Actually, putting aside the price factor. If Note 8 has a flat screen with 16:9 ratio's model, I will get the Note 8 anytime for its superior camera! (Lets' not talk about Pixel 2. Pixel phone is not for the mainstream folks).

The Note 8's 18:9 ration and its 6.3" curved screen and long and slim handset design size ....I don't wanna hold a Samsung TV remote control sia.....:s8:

Like or not, 18:9 is the future phone's screen. Don't know why.

That's alright! We have got to move forwards with 18:9, but just not at the moment! Many Apps and games and video contents are still in the traditional 16:9!

I would say, in 2019. We should got for 18:9 ratio when the 18:9 contents are able to catch up. Only if..... Just not now yet!

you mean mate10 pro camera cannot take full screen (18:9) photos?

Sure can, it's inside the settings but by default most cameras set at 4:3 so the pictures taken will leave black gaps. 18:9 is still very new, will catch on and be the future is still unknown. If you use a note 8 before, you will find that even with 2 hands gripping on the phone, thumbs still have a hard time reaching the top corners becos it's very long

Is there setting for 2:1 ratio photo? I only saw selection for 16:9 and 4:3

I used the same photo which were pre-stored in both phones. They are all 16:9 ratio.

There is also a HDR10 video preloaded in both phone can try.

Pro got all the 3 ratio settings for photos taking size lah. I did try it the other day.

So, on the Pro, take your photo at 18:9 ratio so that your photos taken will fill up the full screen on the Pro when viewing them.

Having said that. How does a 18:9 ratio photo looks like on Non Pro's 16:9 display?

As for me. I always take photo at 16:9 ratio even though I would lose the MP.

It will be like wide screen with top and bottom black bars

16:9 is for viewing on phones but if you want to print them, should take in 3:2 or 4:3 m

Actually, to me. Without 3.5mm earphone jack is not a deal breaker.

A relatively good Bluetooth earpiece is so affordable now, and without the mess of earphone cable be it a meepok type or meekia type.

Yucks. That sucks to view it with top and bottom black bar.

I don't print the photos taken. So, 16:9 is fine for me. :)
