Some issues with the mate 10 pro that i've noticed while deciding if i should purchase this.

1. WiFi stops functioning properly after awhile. Connected but doesn't pull data. Slow wifi speeds
2. Apps get killed off/stops functioning when you exit it. I.e. apps stop syncing/downloading
3. Widgets/background apps stop working after phone goes into deep sleep (not used awhile)
4. Notification problems. Apps don't report notification

I can't tell if these are common problems or one-off issues. Could the users here share their experience if these are indeed/still problems with the later softwares?

After using the M10P for more than 2 months, I don't experience issue 1. 2, 3 & 4 like what some have mentioned can be manually managed. I generally don't have any issues with things like download failing when leaving the app whether it's on Chrome or Google app store. At this point where few devices are on Android Oreo, it is difficult to say if it is the OS or specific to Huawei, or a combination of both. The AI feature likely have a hand in the aggressive app management by default.

It does work for me. The first morning after I got my phone, my third party alarm did not sound as it was killed overnight. I went to set manual management and to allow it to run in the background, and subsequently it can ring in the mornings.

You just have to allow whatever apps you want to run in the background. It's just a little tedious to manage one by one and you can get system notification that the app you set to run in the background is taking up high battery resources etc, but if you do need it to run in the background then you gotta live with those notifications.
I have the same experience with 3rd party alarm.

Now I set it to launch manually .... But the alarm rang 4 or 5 mins later... So if originally I need it to ring at 7:15, I need to set the alarm at 7:10 in order for it to ring at the actual time

The Note 8 is a decent but the battery life and the odd finger print reader placement (to some extent) is the deal breaker for me. I was attracted by the better screen and pen support on the Note 8.

Anyway, interesting read talking about how Huawei managed to improve performance over time while phones from other manufacturers tend to slow down. At least for the last 2 months I have been using my M10P, it has been consistently snappy in performance.

Oh... I didn't notice this because for the first few rings I was busy blindly tapping on the big snooze button on the screen... :s13:

All these easily changed under battery & apps management

Just surprised how did u come to all these conclusions without owning the phone

Hi, just gotten my mate 10 non pro last two days, must say it's a snappy phone. But I have a qns, does ur setting reset whenever you restart your device? I have some of these problems like screen is back to auto brightness and lock sound turned on even though I have set it to off. I'm not sure if it's caused by by switching off the battery saver or is it due to the restart of phone?

Secondly, if I were to switch on the battery saver, is there anyway to extend the screen on time? The option grey out and I'm unable to toggle it if I keep the battery saver on... Any experts can advise me on this? Thanks in advance

Yes. This is what everyone experience too. Unsure if it's a firmware bug or its meant to work this way

No way to extend the screen timeout when you turn on battery saver

After doing research on the phone, these were some issues I saw being reported. Just wanted to check how bad they were!

Issue no.1 has plagued me since day 1 of purchase in nov 2017. You can search for my post in this thread.

I have visited a lot of webs/forums/fb group to see if ppl are experiencing the same issues as me. Turns out there are a couple of them in sg and overseas. Even went through the chinese huawei forums and I saw a whole list of wifi issues reported by huawei users in china.

Some background info: All other mobile brands and laptops used by my family members have no issues staying connected with my home wifi, hence I pinpointed that my phone is the one with the issue, not my home wifi.
Played with my wifi settings as suggested by some people:

1) disable band steering
2) disable either 2.4/5GHz
3) disable ipv6
4) reset the home router/ONT + switching it off for a couple of mins before switching it back on
5) factory reset my phone a couple of times
6) wifi is set to always during sleep
7) no google home/chrome cast at home (was recently reported to interfere with wifi)

(list is not exhausted; phone settings like turning mobile data off while wifi is on didn't work too)

but to no avail. Have to toggle off and on my wifi button every hour or so just to stay connected to my home wifi. Annoyed to the max.

Went to the service ctr a couple of times too. They told me that my phone wifi is working fine at their side and they helped to reset some software and asked me to try again at home. Was told that Singtel router is known to have problems. Nevertheless, if it still fails, I have to go back svc ctr again for motherboard replacement.

And of course, the problem still persists. Meanwhile, I'm still in the midst of discussing with Singtel regarding my issue before I head down to huawei service ctr again.

I have erratic issues with the Play Store though.

Sometimes I go into the Play Store, the "installed" apps tab is empty, and the searching for update just keeps going on and on.

Close the App, open again still the same.

But restart phone, open Play Store and it's ok, the "installed" apps tab is back with all my apps.

But other than the erratic Play Store and WiFi connectivity issue, everything else is really good, though I hate the front camera, like overly "touched up" compared to iPhone's natural look.

Can migrate WhatApps, LINE and WeChat?

I am not 100% sure, but I believe if you are migrating from Android to Android, it is possible. But you will need to back the data up on Google's cloud backup. That is also if you have sufficient space on your cloud drive to do so.
