Huawei Mate 9

Hi, need recommendation here. My Mate 9 screen is cracked and phone is still under warranty till this Oct 2020. Shd I change at Huawei center or go mobile shop replace crack screen? If change at outside, the warranty void? Thanks

Mate 9 is still under 2 years screen replacement warranty. Only beginning from Mate 10 (IIRC) then is 3 months for screen replacement. Maybe you can check with Huawei first.

Edit: my bad. screen replacement seems to be for 1 year for Mate 9. check the Huawei support app and see what it says.

Non-original battery can catch fire or degrade faster. The original one is not that expensive and the workmanship is guaranteed.

Plus, they change the screen forr you as port of the battery replacement. Says it's due to the battery and screen being connected.

This is a Feb 2020 news but hope it comes true.

Edit: I think it is not coming. But I will be changing my Mate 9 anyway soon.

Yup, this year is my last year holding on to my Mate 9. I'm exploring either Mate 30 Pro or P30 Pro.

Mate 30 Pro price has fallen very hard such that the price is lower at Starhub CIS than P30 Pro despite being newer and more powerful.

However, Mate 30 Pro really has limitations for an average user and I cannot accept that it has difficulty with SingPass OTP.

My Mate 9 has served me well for 2.5 years and I just changed to Mate 20 Pro today.

The Mate 20 Pro camera is able to focus much faster than Mate 9. However, the screen is very narrow but has a much richer colour.

For the better camera and Android 10, I am willing to sacrifice the screen size.

I used to own several Xiaomi phones. Xiaomi's hardware is great but the software is always a let down. Moreover, Xiaomi is no longer value for money.

I bought a 2nd hand Mate 20 Pro with 1 year warranty left for about $400 (my mum likes the new Mate 20 Pro I bought 2 weeks so I gave it to her).

Specification-wise it beats these Xiaomi budget phones hands-down despite being launched 1 year+ ago and it does not have the nonsense built-in advertisements.

Only $400 - $230 = $170 more for the much more premium features

Yup my Mate9 is a backup phone when charging my main one and it's a real solid workhorse. Screen fills up perfectly for 16:9 movies so it's nice & large.

Had a Mate 20, that's really nice fone too, sold it when I got a good deal. 2y warranty is a great bonus. Would not get a Mate30/P40 w/o Google services becoz phones are meant for convenience and apps on the go. Don't want to be fiddling or working around alternatives.
