Hi guys,

I am on B189 update. It's my first time using huawei phone and i'm not very sure on how to install custom rom. I browse through xda, the rooting, twrp, unlock bootloader process seems to be straightforward. But i dont understand the rebranding part. I understand different regions got different firmware, some get updated until b194. I'm nt sure if i can just install the custom rom on our firmware.

B194 is EU rom.
Curious... Are u a tinkerer or need a particular feature hence custom ROM?

Used to play with custom roms for other phone to tweak here and there. But over time realised custom rom is so tiring to figure out and still trade off bugs, stability, battery drain, lousy camera app/bugs.

Nowadays no need to because plenty of cpu, ram, battery, good camera, stable etc.

same, used to tinker in my primary school days but now in poly no time le.

I now just root and debloat stock myself, if can find deodexed stock on xda would definitely use it.

Saw Mate 9 brand new for $590 on Kasia/whymobile/MS and used sets on Carousell going for 400++ to 500 bucks. Mate 9 really holds value that well?! Was contemplating this phone...

There are a lot of budget hand phones selling at $300+, so it is difficult for the price of new Mate 9 that is a flagship hand phone of less than a year old to fall below $500 so fast. Probably by middle of next year...

Less than 400 is good deal for the buyer! This fone is really good and well balanced across performance, features, camera and battery capacity.

I read all the issues of iPhones with battery drain and various ways to optimize battery by disbling this service and that. And still have to pay incredible $ for that.

I probably will pay only around $400...the 2 years warranty, 1st year covers the lcd screen only right? battery up to 18 months? what else?

Mine is Malaysia set so I guess ok... But it's still a good phone I agree. Just that I can't fit two huge phones in my pocket... Changed from ip7 to Note 8. So now just managing both SIM cards on my Note 8 instead of previously having 1 on Mate 9 and another on ip7

It is an ok price for me. Hand phones usually are used for 1-2 years anyway.
