Damn seems like notification is one of the common problem in this OS

hi all, new to huawei here too. anyone knows if the notifications like instagram can be displayed on the p30 pro always on display feature? i realise the always on display doesnt show any notifications at all. tia!

It does show any notifications that pops out. This ain't Samsung s8 era where the aod is useless.

Auto focus under normal light condition it works fine. Under dark conditions or confusing it with close subjects in the dark, it will hunt a bit before nailing focus. As for all phone cam including this phone, it will still hunt focus.

I came from s10 plus. If it wasnt the s10 plus plagued by so many issues, I wouldn't have bought this phone.

So far it works fine. Not perfect. But at least it wasn't as bad as the s10 plus.

Yes it has a strong camera for stills. But for video capabilities it is not as great as compared to Samsung.

Kirin 980 is still sluggish at times. Scrolling through certain webpage that are fully loaded still can cause the scroll speed to slow down. Notifications some times still has an issue. But nevertheless at least it is a more polished phone. Emui still sux, but I use a launcher to get over with it.

How do the speakers sound? Toying with the idea of jumping ship to Huawei, but the new OS and non-stereo speakers are making me hesitate. Will pop into the stores to check it out soon! Need to compare the screen too...

If you do follow the thread over at Samsung thread. There is plenty.

- lte network issues
- proximity sensor doesn't detect well when phone is in pocket or in bag at times result in dialing emergency number
- poor battery life
- poor fingerprint scanner detection rate
- VoIP calls drain battery (during 1st patch)
- headphone jack has static noise when charging
- aod drain a lot of battery
- selfie cam way too over exposed

And yes it's a 1.7k phone, it is expensive and all this doesn't even work properly.

Currently using a S9.

If u r on s9, change to p30 or mate 20...u will notice the battery life
The s9 and s10 are very bad with battery life.

I had same games and same network sim on both both (s10+ and p30pro). The batt on s10 will always be lower than p30pro.(does not correspond to the 100mah)

In terms of camera, i dont zee big difference (it depends what and how much color tweak u like)
The 50x zoom is not a daily use...depend on condition

I play a little with cameras so imo:

a) not at all
prior to p30p, my best AF experience in terms of speed and accuracy came from samsung’s S & Note’ dual pixel AF which is faster than the likes of laser. It is that little bit faster than iXSmax imo.
With p30p, the TOF AF is that little bit faster than dual pixel AF.
During good lightings, the speed difference is almost negligible.
During lower lightings, you can feel more as the reduction in light causes a challenge to all cameras even dslr or mirrorless.

b)it depends on your expectation.

To someone who is quite into toddler/kids photography which my targets just wouldn’t stay still, p30p is snappier (slightly faster AF and lesser shot to shot lag) than s10+ (my last phone) and iXSmax (my wife’s) in room lightings.

To a technologist (fan tiered), the improvement from huawei since m10p year on year is refreshing and welcomed. They are spoiling the market benchmark. I am sure apple and Samsung can do it but as the leaders (I can’t help but to think) they are purposely slowing down the tech to milk us consumers.
Don’t we all love the challenger? Remember Starhub making incoming free for mobile for good?

Jumping from S10+ to p30p, the biggest let down is the screen (Samsung really leads here)
The speaker doesn’t bother me
No noticeable difference between Kirin vs exynos
In return,
I get much better battery experience in terms of longevity and easily twice faster charging and
My preferred camera experience

At the end of the day, the general consumers hardly realized or felt certain features.
For those who are particularly into smartphone photography and battery, p30p is a champion
It’s like if you need a 6 seater to ferry your family but bought a 2 seater Porsche instead, you’ll find it overhyped (after the euphoria of owning one died down)

Another thing, huawei’s camera with Leica’ touch comes with slightly tweaked color which some people complained that it’s too processed. Personally I’m comfortable with it.
Imo the most processed ones are from pixel phones XD

Yes I can whole day don't charge on my P30 Pro until I reach home, as compared to when I was on Samsung which I have to charge intermittently in office
