Having a lot of difficulty (despite on level 57) with Rennala. Damm irritating, could not clear the 1st phase at all. Figured i cant depend on my staff.

I could even grab the Moonveil Katana from Magma Wyrm with little effort. Unfortunately not enough stats to use that sword.

weird...Rennala is one of the easiest boss in the game as she is mostly a 'gimmick' boss especially in phase 1..

you just need to run around the room and kill the other scholars that is generating her shield first....then once her shield is down, wack on her repeatedly..then repeat.

her phase 2 where she can summon other enemies is tougher but still managable. She also got a one hit kill move with that giant ball but that is so slow, it should be easy to dodge.

this boss fight is definitely very easy with another coop player or some other AI summon.

if you survived bloodborne (loading time), you can survive this..
Yeah and I also survived Sekiro's loading times. Hahaha This game is already much better since there's usually a Marika Stake or Grace thats very near to the bosses. And the Graces aren't very far apart to begin with. Definitely a quality of life improvement over the earlier games.

yah..in terms of punishing death, it isn't that disheartening compared to the souls games and is more in-line with bloodborne...

in the 4 souls games, (demon's souls to dark souls 3), dying not only brings you back to the last archstone/bonfire which means a long run to the boss and also losing your souls, it means your humanity is affected which means your HP is literally affected with dark souls 2 being the most cruel out of them all (if you repeatedly die without beating a boss or use a human effigy, your max HP can be effectively halved). Demon's souls got that weird 'tendency' system if you die in the specific areas that affects what enemies and quest you can encounter. In Elden ring, there's sometime similar in the 'rune arc' effect got lost when you die but that mechanic is something i rarely use actually.

in bloodborne and now elden ring, dying only loses your blood echoes/runes and in elden ring's case, the point you got respawned is always so near to the boss....sometimes just immediately outside the boss fog gate...a luxury not presented in all prior games.

The problem lies in the fact that I'm a Astrologer build. And my short sword hardly does much damage. The Carian Slice does help. But still ..... nvm. I go explore more of other areas.

I still cant deafeat Renalla. Hahah ... damm she is tough.
During the 2nd phase, my Dogs were literally just staring & ignoring her. I suck seriously at melee during phase 1.

Worst part is .. I'm already lvl 80 Astrologer. Hahaha

What I didn't realise (still in stomveil/stormhill) is that in Stormveil castle, everytime I die I lose 30% runes even if I recover them. I thought it was the default rule. but actually is that prisoner at the beginning telling you to go the alternative route, he is stealing your runes everytime you die. knn dunno how many thousands of runes lost to him .. zzz

I’m clearing this castle too and opted for the alternative route

Astel is my bane. Took me so many tries and hours and he still one shot me.

So i opted to do a re-spec, taking out points from my INT and putting them into my HP and did it on the 3rd try!

i need to put more points in HP...lol...before this, my hp bar is shorter than my stamina bar even after using a rune arc.

I farmed till level 92 liao, Astrologer.
- Glinstone Twin Sage crown
- Lusat's Glintstone Staff +4
- Moonveil Katana +4

Cleared Renalla. What am i suppose to do now? I just exploring around.

Btw, i still feel the Meteoroid staff (with Rock Sling) is so much better than the Lusat Glintstone. Damage is higher. Maybe cos i have not strengthen my Lusat staff enough.

You dam fast. Try following this:

This game is really massive. After 70 hours, I've only defeated 2 out of the 5 demigods. And I didn't even "farm".

got east ward to Caelid if you haven't. Then push northward into volcano Manor and then just follow the path to the capital and beyond.

yup...i am at 100+ hours and only uncovered like 60% of the map.

in regards to farming, if anyone wants to do it easy, just go to the hidden dungeon along side starscourge radahn stage...every enemy there is 1000+ rune and best of all, the enemies were fighting against each other so if you are willing to turn on the game and watch netflix or youtube or something, you can just leave the game there for long and watch the runes come in.

or you can be a helpful tarnished and open yourself for coop in that dungeon too as the boss in their dungeon has been griefing alot of enemies due to its bullsh!t attacks.

Go Caelid and fight Radahn? You might be overleveled for most of the areas in Caelid. Or visit Atlus Plateau and beyond. You can explore the underground cities too
