thanks bro. :)

now i'm not really bothered by what pes i get, as long as non combat, i don't wish to chiong with all these underlying conditions. i dont wish to get stroke or heart attack at 30. haha. Now priority is to get everything under control. i already change everything i could, lifestyle, diet and meds everyday without fail. even after all that and losing weight, it makes no diff to my bp at all.

Thanks to all who replied too. Cheers.

Are u NSman or NSfs?

Anyway, nobody will know what Pes u get, even the MO can only recommend,it still up to the medical board to decided.

My case is quite similar to yours,i have very high BP,on medication.Went to govt hos,get a memo stating

i have hypertension,is undergoing medication for the rest of my life.I am recommended to be excuse from all physical activities .

In the end i get a one yr temp E9L9.

When my pes expire, went back to the MO with a new Memo(but the contents is the same as the old) ,i still only get another 1 yr temp E9L9

This yr,i fainted in the office, went to NUH A&E,they found out that i have angina pectoris(heart problem).Get a new memo for this case and together with another memo from my specialist for high blood pressure went to mo and then i get a pem E9l9

And u know what my vocation now, haha i am a riflemen in 2PDF LOL.I even went outfield during my ICT to help out with saikangs. When the rest of the pes B guys having field camp,i also sleep in the tent outfield. My RSM say Pes E9L9 excuse outfield activities but never say cannot stay in outfield do admin work hahaa.Friend there no such thing as pes E9L9 non combat, maybe NSF have but not for NSMan.

true, but will u pose a risk or not u have to ask MO or explain ur case to MINDEF through their feedback email.

if its smth the unit cant justified, good luck to them seriously. as good as playing with fire if they think too smart to play with words. lol.

or even worse, u faint again in outfield, u see what will happen if u wanna fight ur claims.

Bro, for you a bit risky to go outfield right? haha. if really want to play with words, excuse outfield "activities". as long as you're doing something outfield its considered an activity right? haha. walking also an activity. but do take care bro.

I'm NSF with less than a year to go only, not expecting much. my specialist is very unhelpful. every time he checks my bp is 130/80, end up i have to go polyclinic to find out it's still high. and they add medication. i do mean every time without fail its 130/80. he even wrote a memo saying i do have hypertension but is under control with 1 type of meds. shortly after i ended up in the sick bay in my camp medical centre because of high bp. they check every hour and it was always 170+, even with that 1 type of meds and furthermore i just laid there doing nothing other than resting and sleeping. no choice my MO then tried new meds.

end up i fed up, brought my machine down and measured right outside his office before i went in 150/80, went in he said 130/80 again. the first thing he said "your machine must be faulty". He then use another machine to measure and it said 147/75. he then said, "140+ still not too bad la". tak boleh tahan sia. in the end went polyclinic and adjust meds again till now finally is under control. the only thing he does is run tests, provide me whatever meds the polyclinic tells me i should be taking and thats it. all the endocrine tests came out normal. so i'm guessing medication for life as well. Nothing i do could lower my bp. exercising, eating healthily, losing weight... etc. in fact i'm seeing a slight increase. granted, i've always been a bit heavy, at my thinnest after BMT, my BMI is still in the 25-26 range. but even then i could get an ippt gold. now its 27 as obviously i've exercise less vigorously since then.

I've yet to consult the cardiologist but hoping its nothing. i rather have a healthy heart than lower PES status. neither of my parents have hypertension, but my father side does have history of heart issues. my dad, a few uncles and my sister have problems with their heart.

Well,i enlisted in 1999,the SAF i know til now is still the same.My case is,outfield admin work, trust me regulars know well how to cover themselves, they don't care what symptoms you have(chest pain, etc) they only want to see the PES u have.Even if something happened to me,i.e faint, most likely he can just say i'm given E9L9 by the MO,i'm doing admin work,it just that it at outfield.

Only when someone died, then they will get scared, start to push blame to others. But from what i see over the years, the death rate of servicemen, nothing have change really.Of course not all regulars are like that, some i know are good too.

For your case, since u are in service(NSF),best to get a downgrade before ORD.The medical fees is cover and you stand lower chances to be call back for reservist with a Pes E.

Even if u still being call back your posting should be better,at least a clerk or storeman not like me end up as a PES E9L9 riflemen and in a super siao on Chiong sua unit.

Actually measuring of BP is not accurate with a single or multiple tries,it best that you request to do a 24 hours BP monitoring test either to MO,polyclinic or Hospital. That way no one can find fault with u

at least ur this rsm know how to play this admin work in outfield.

with a L9 land code, a DXO can tell me i can go outfield for combat service vocation job.

a check with my vocation formation DXO and their MO, say i cant go outfield for this job. lmao at the 1st DXO. nv die before seriously.

but seriously if u wan revocation if u find the job unsuitable, u can feedback mah. ur already a nsman.

MO will not downgrade you if you have hypertension. But if you have symptoms of not feeling well, then you may have chance.

wow, suddenly this post got bumped up. Nowadays, i've been breaking records after records. My highest recorded BP is now 220/90, taken at home. Measured after i wake up, wash up and everything. Right before taking my meds. My meds now consists of Atenolol 50mg, Adalat 60 mg, and Enalapril 10mg (twice daily). It seems to be ok for most part of the day. My BP will still gradually increase throughout the day. The main issue is now the side effects with the medications. Namely massive fatigue/lethargy, and massive headaches. Probably going to switch meds with recommendations from private specialists. its all a huge PITA.

Now, i'm temp e9l9 if i'm not wrong. Awaiting medical board. But frankly, i don't give a **** about my pes status anymore, i just want to feel healthy, normal again. Just want to leave behind all these **** and move on with my life.

Ur lecturers never tell u this on the first day of med school?

"in training is not equivalent to in practice

you are not to give others medical advice and make them take your advice"

I've already changed my diet since last year. Mostly is steamed vegetables and white meat. Of course i still occasionally indulge a little. I've always been rather active since secondary school years. I play basketball with my friends almost everyday, not just shooting hoops, but full court matches, the activity lasts at least a few hours. After that i sometimes still go jogging. I've stopped playing due to leg injury years back, but still continued jogging afterwards. In BMT i can just hit ippt gold. I love to jog.

well, maybe i can say loved. ever since the medications started piling on, it's all been downhill. When i stopped atenolol, i felt better, other than the headaches. But the recent increase in BP to over 200+ got me spooked. So I went back on it again. So at the moment there is no way for me to just go get some serious exercise. i did wonder if stopping the medications would help, which of course my doctor did not want me to try. A few years back my GP already recorded a reading of 170/90, but she just told me your BP "abt" high ah. I only found out last year the actual reading.

No known cause, no one in the family has hypertension. Tested most everything, heart, kidney, hormones, all normal. Now i'm just like w.t.h. is going on. hahaha.

I see.. Yea I kind of understand the feeling of hopelessness when you've done all you could on your part..

If you're really unwell because of the medications, you can always see your doctor again to fine tune the treatment..

Stay cheerful will help! :)
