@ Lss: May I please know where did you get the mSATA?

Unfortunately, the X220 laptop has this issue that the mSATA SSDs may not be compatible with it. Would love to add the mSATA SSD as the boot SSD and my conventional HDD as the storage queen.

Hello guys, i just purchased thinkpad X220 today. Drained the battery and charged it. Been charging for the 2.5 hours, and the battery % is still showing at 99% for 45 mins. Now still charging and showing at 99%.. is it normal ? will go up to 100 % soon right ? hope is not a stuck at 99%

Yes, it should go to 100%. I noticed this on my Thinkpad too. From 99% to 100% usually take sometime.

From the Power Manager, do you see how long remaining time to fully charge it?

SSD fever

I can see that SSD adoption is increasing judging from the 'sorry no-stock' responses at sim lim sq and decline in prices. It's hardly surprising because its the only upgrade that you can do to your ThinkPad that gives a very visible boost in performance. Upgrading your ram or processor can only do so much, but with the SSD, you can really feel the improvement in the speed of your OS and apps, lower heat generation, less vibration /noise and longer battery life.

Having said that, I'm rather excited about the next line of ThinkPads because they will most likely equip them with SSDs as standard, thus allowing the profile to be way slimmer than the current models. A T420s + discrete graphics in the body of an X1 perhaps?

Yup, it'll take a while because it will start to trickle-charge but finally it will hit 100%. Just a question, does your battery wobble a bit or is it a firm fit?

Yup, looked through the websites for the mSATA. Popular one will be the Intel 310m 80GB which is almost ALWAYS out of stock! But the problems that is being raised on the Lenovo forums is that there have been instances of consumers buying the mSATA and the X220 does not detect them at all.

Current issues of the X220 are:

1. Throttling
2. Jumpy touchpad
3. Possibility that the mSATA SSD may not be detected by the X220.

It shows 2 mins to fully charge.. But takes an hour more to 100%.. Is alright I guess.. At least it is able to hit 100% charge.. Just got to wait.

Yep, it takes a quite a while to reach 100% charge from 99%, for my 1st charge.. My battery on the x220 is a firm fit..

mine is a regular 2.5" ssd. not msata. t410 doesnt support msata afaik.

solved the storage problem by swapping out the optical drive for the laptop's original harddisk since i rarely need it anyway.

You drain from 50% that is New battery that comes with a laptop or have you charged the required 8 hours to full from first boot?

The power manager is trying to gauge where is your full vs drain position, so it can norm be stuck at 97 and it trickle charge. I normally do a full battery reset every other month. New models of battery last longer with frequent small use and frequent charge compared to ancient battery technology.

Also plug in battery when normal AC use. The advanced circuitry will not use the battery and in fact laptop will go faster with bat inserted.

Sigh....don't you know all new electronic products battery need to charge as long as possible on the first charge to 'activate' the battery chemical? Also, every few months, should do a cycle charge (full charge, full drain then full charge) to exercise the chemical also.

This theory only correct if this is 5 to 10 years ago uning NiMH or NiCD battery.
These battery "leak" in transit and required full charge cycle.

Not for the modern battery.

Sure, all battery reach its max perofrmance after a few cycles of re-charge thruout the useful battery life time. But you do not want to waste these charge cycle by trying to get max performance from day 1.

You can try to configure the CPU power saving via the Lenovo Power Manager. I think your current scheme might have set the CPU to a very low speed to save power.

I think it is alright for the newer batteries namely Li-ION and Li-Polymer types.

R50e Windows 7 no Wifi Driver

Hey guys,

I just upgraded my thinkpad R50e to Win7 but i can't find any compatible wireless adapter driver. I believe the wireless adapter is an integrated wireless adapter on an intel motherboard.

Do anyone faces the same issue?
