Hi Guys, just like to run a check if any bros here still using a Singtel X61 w Integrated HSDPA modem with M1 Broadband on Mobile Sim Card?

My X61 does not detect the sim card and keep prmpting No Sim Detected/Inserted.

However, when i put in my Starhub and Singtel sim card into the X61, it is able to detect and surf at 3G speed without any problem. Likewise, i tested the M1 sim card in my Ipad and Iphone, all work well.

The only problem combo is X61 + M1 sim card, no sim detected.

Could it be that the Integrated Modem is locked to reject M1 sim card and only accept Singtel and Starhub? Or is there some configuration setting that i must do on the X61 to detect the M1 sim card?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I gave up and just for the hack of it, i took a spare HDD and install Win 7 Ultimate.

Viola! All's working fine. This proved Hardware and sim card working fine. So it'a a software issue.

I removed the keyboard and there is a PCI-E slot for me. I read online that this model actually supports WWAN card but i cant seem to find the antennas.

For the Wifi card, there are two antennas. Can i use one of them for my WWAN card?

Or do i need to install my own antenna?

Correct, some of them does not have the antenna already build in from factory. So you cannot install the WWAN card.

This may sound stupid to some but is there anyways I can do upgrade for my laptop processor if for example the processor is just a higher but same series?

honestly if you have never done it before be prepared to spend the whole day on it.

Almost like Desktop Processor except that the lock is a key screw. Rotate to unlock/lock.
Dissembling the laptop is the troublesome part.

what i did was order the antenna off ebay and changed it myself.

The lightness of the X220 makes it so portable and the 6-cell battery does give me about 6hrs of uptime. If you want 20hrs uptime, then u can opt for the slice battery.

Lenovo keyboards are, in my opinion, the best out there. Lenovo durability is also top-notch, as my T61 can attest to, after 4yrs, it still chugs along fine.

I have no experience with the Samsung RF411 laptop but you have to judge for yourself if you can get used to the 12.5" screen of the X220 as compare to a 14". Unfortunately you will not be having the IPS screen (743:1 contrast and peak: 293nit), which is simply wonderful.

Yes you can. What is your current processor speed/type. New CPU may not be cheap so price vs performance may be not worth to do it.

A laptop is very personal, its either you like it or you don't. I like the modular design of the Lenovo because u can swap parts without voiding your warranty, ie: change RAM or HDD. There are even Lenovo videos on how to strip your laptops apart. And the design doesn't go out of style, it is distinctively IBM/Lenovo.

And I do go on-ste very often, so lightness is a crucial factor. I cannot bear lugging around a 14" laptop anymore! I'm getting OLD!

Any current X220 owners have successfully added a mSATA SSD drive to their laptops? Thinking of the Intel 310m 80GB or the Renice 120GB but there have been issues that some users cannot detect the SSD drives on their X220s.

Anyone knows if the ram removal steps are the same across different thinkpad models?

I searched high and low for the removal guide for Thinkpad E220S but unable to find it. But i found other model from the thinkpad series? If the steps are universal then I will know how to change the ram.

I just added an Apple 120Gb SSD from my Macbook Pro to my Lenovo X201 i5-540m.

Boots up with full software installation very fast. Runs cool too and my battery life increased by about 1 hour more for a 6 cell.

thats nice i didnt notice an improvement in batterylife when i changed my. T410 with discrete gfx. but bootup speed is really fast. within 20s.
