I called up Addon and they told me I should purchase my extended warranty from US site since I had purchase my T520 from them.

Hence my question above.

You can drop Addon Systems an email with your Part/Serial Number of your laptop and they can check and revert on the prices for local warranty extensions.

I have asked regarding warranty extension for my own Lenovo T-series laptops and the quotation (sometime in 2010) to the 4th year, and it was about S$299.00. To the 5th year, it was S$499.00.

It is a standard Lenovo cable. Swapped a spoilt T61 brick cable with my X220's.

My Toshiba box is only 1.8kg but the actual volumetric shipping is 6.8kg. I suppose it's due to the bigger protective box. Will keep you guys updated once I receive it.

The best X220 deal was in Sept when it dropped to USD680 for a i5.

All in is about S$900 as the exchange rate was the lowest then at 1.21

I have a DVI to HDMI cable, so I bought a HDMI to DP adapter from here:

DisplayPort Display Port DP to HDMI Converter Adapter | eBay

Works perfectly. And I tried it with a HDMI cable to my TV and both sound & picture are transferred to my TV.

I bought the same item, from another seller though. It works for Duplicate. But it does not work for Extend. It cannot detect my Samsung SyncMaster T260HD. It even gives blue screen at times. Can yours do the Extend?

It works ok when I boot from HDD. Can Duplicate, Extend, etc. However, when I boot from mSata SSD, can Duplicate. Once I choose Extend, Blue Sreen! Hmm....conflict with mSata SSD?

Also, realised that x220 does not have Presentation Director that I used to have for my x61. Missed it a lot as it can do all sort of scheme setup, when stand alone, when connector to external, when dock, when remove from dock. Is there any other replacement for Presentation Director?

But I wonder if it is a good idea to use a 16GB thumbdrive just to keep the R&R files? I mean, you cannot use the thumbdrive for any other purposes and the R&R program will not allow you to create a new R&R set after you create the 1st set.

There seems to be a way to move around the files in the USB thumbdrive. The guy use a 8GB USB thumbdrive to create the USB R&R without the boot partition. He then use other tool to put the partition in. Using this way, he manage to squeeze everything in a 8GB USB drive.

Using the standard way (New or used USB memory keys or USB flash drives require an active partition created from within Windows Vista or Windows 7 prior to making the Windows 7 Recovery media on the USB key - ThinkPad), it needs more than 8GB USB drive.

Also, even possible to re-create the Recovery Disk. Haven't tried that though. So, if it is verified that as long as my S & Q drive is around, I will be able to re-create the Recovery Disk.

You are correct and I cannot used this "extend" function at all. Once when I chose "extend", my X220 will get a BSOD and restart automatically. I did not try the "extend" function before I installed the mSATA SSD.

As for the Presentation Director, it has been discontinued with Win7. However, this guy got it to work with Win 7. His instructions are:

The error during install should be irrelevant. I'm not sure which aspects of Win7 replace Presentation Director, but I wasn't comfortable with them. I'm using Presentation Director 4.32 for Vista x64. After install, find it in:

%systemroot%\Program Files (x86)\Lenovo\NPDIRECT

Right-click every .exe, select Properties, click on the Compatibility tab, and set compatibility for Vista. Reboot. This should hopefully get it working for you.

And I read something about if you use a 16GB thumbdrive, if you create another partition in it, you can still setup your bootable R&R data inside as well as using the other parition for your normal files, etc. Can't seem to find that link though...

Did another quick test. I used the standard VGA cable to hook up to my Samsung TV and the extend function works.

For your information, I tried the extend function via HDMI to Displayport adaptor on 2 Samsung LED TVs, the BSOD & reboot symptoms appeared.

1. Samsung UA40D5500
2. Samsung UA46D5000

Haven't tried on the rest of my TVs though...

But whilst attached to my 21" monitor via Displayport > HDMI > DVI, the extend function functions fine.

Same here. both "extend" & "projector only" modes causes my X220 with mSATA SSD to reboot itself. Have you tried Intel HD3000 drivers instead of the ones by Lenovo?

For me to use Displayport > HDMI > DVI, it is only for my monitor and not my TVs. My TVs only have HDMI & VGA slots.
