hi all,

Jus got a Thinkpad T61 at $1599 from Newstead at Funan 4th floor. Think its a pretty good deal - anyone interested do check it out.

Anyway, mine comes with Core 2 Duo T8100, 1gb ram (paid $35 for another 1gb), 160 gb hdd and a 128MB nVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M instead of the standard X3100. I downgraded it to XP Pro for additional $50 bucks too (provided my own licence key) When I checked at 3rd floor lenovo, similar spec selling at $2799.

p.S: Add me to the list of thinkpad users - thnks!

I am a new T61 user as well!

Hehehe I got one set from Newstead as well. Upgraded RAM on my own (bought another 2GB at $45). Also upgraded OS to Vista Business cos I need to use the laptop for work; got OEM from another shop. Think their offer was really good value for money.

Is it because Thinkpad going to phase out these T-series processors and moving on to the Centrino 2s?

Go to www.lenovo.com. Choose your country/region. Then click on downloads & drivers under the support section. Input the machine details and then you should be able to see the various drivers available for your notebook.

Lenovo/ThinkPad notebooks do not come with any warranty card. You can choose to register the notebook online. However, when you go online to check your warranty status, it will not reflect whatever you have registered. The warranty start date you see is normally few months before your purchase date as the default warranty starts the day the notebooks are shipped out from the plants.

Most importantly, you must have the purchase invoice/receipt when sending it in for servicing. The warranty start date will be based on that and will overwrite the default warranty.

You can also call 1800 3172-888. The address is 9 Changi Business Park Central 1, The IBM Place. For ThinkPads, they actually have free drop-off service in Singpost. Can check with me if you need more details.

That is actually the ThinkPad Away Manager running in your background. U can exclude this from the startup programs.

Hi, fellow ThinkPad users,

I jsut got myself a 2nd hand T41 and wish to upgrade the RAM from its measly 512MB. I need to get PC2700 RAM. Anyone have any recommendations as to which brand I should buy for best compatibility? The last thing I'd want is to get BSODs due to incompatible RAM.

Hi, my new Thinkpad T61 indicator plate on the lid (the small oval shaped sticker with the baterry, plug and moon icon) fell off when I was carrying it. I managed to find the thing on the ground but now it won't stick on anymore. Is this covered under warranty. I dun mind buying it and fixing it myself. Anyone got hold of spare? Can sell me?
