RP does offer Thinkpads however certain models such as the W500 were not available last year.

Ngee Ann Poly sells the full range of Thinkpads.

Really ah? Tot RP was still offering Acers and Fujitsus only. Good to hear that Thinkpads are available now.

Nope. My friend who entered RP last year bought a T400 from the in-house fair :)

The only difference/unique aspect of RP fair is that all notebooks sold there are preloaded with RP image rather than OEM windows. It's mandatory and if im right for 2010 it's Windows 7 Enterprise.

You fancy lugging a monster notebook to school everyday, climbing up and down stairs all the time? Haha. I'm using a T61p and its already killing my back. Makes me envious of my wife's X200. Can't imagine my students who drag their W500 to school everyday. :s13:
Haha, i carry my w500 to school everyday and yeah i do agree agree with you, it can be tough. But after some time you just get used to it i guess. :)

For those who want to get thinkpad and studying in RP or ITE, just go to thinkclub.sg. The company running the site is called JardinOS or something, the ones who sell the thinkpads in poly. As long as you study in ANY one of the Polytechnics or ITE you can get a thinkpad at the student price from them.

OMG....T400, W500, X200 less than 2k?!! THats super cheap man! Students really get a good deal, don't need to bother checking anywhere else. Too bad its not Windows 7 though. Poor public and corporate users like us have to burn a big hole in our wallets to get one...

Those prices quoted are before GST though. You got to add 7% to it. If I recall correctly, the prices for W500 and X200 adds up to 2k+ after GST.

I was told by a friend of mine, you don't have to be a student to get it from them at that price.

Deals from schools are the best around in town - nearly match US Price and even better - get the convenience of local warranty!

Why I said its best: because usually its bundled with: Upgraded OS, Microsoft Office and More RAMs.

Student deals normally come with international warranty actually because of people going on overseas exchange or attachment. Corporate bulk purchase prices are almost quite low too. Got my T61p from a bulk scheme. Still lovin' it after two years!

The W series looks very tempting also, I do not mind the weight considering the very good specifications and quality. Hope the school brings in this model this year with reasonable prices.

Yeah, 2k is a really good deal. When i bought it, i actually wasn't thinking of buying a thinkpad. Cause in the previous years, usually the poly roadshows would bring in HP and last year was the first year they brought in Thinkpads. I was going to get a dell xps when i saw the thinkpad poly brochure and was surprised. Cause i always thought thinkpads cost quite a lot. I didn't miss the chance the chance and grabbed one. :)

I was hesitant as first cause Thinkpads were always branded as 'Boring' among my friends. But after i got it and till today i have not had much problems. The only issue so far was the battery and it was swapped for a new one within a day onsite. Good reliability, good customer service and enough horsepower, what more could you ask.

Btw windows 7 can get free from school. :D

hope the poly bring in t410 and t410s

The T410 and T410s screens come in 16:10 ratios. I think 99.999% of all notebooks now come in widescreen format nowadays since playing movies and games are popular.
