we do. but u must call to ask how much is it first and do we have stock anot....

Hmm... I called up helpline. Was told that Changi does not sell y X61 battery. He also said will contact retail shops to check on stock availability but I did not receive any followup. NVM. This CSO probably has too much queries to answer. So now my lappy just connect directly to powerline. Will wait for next IHL offer and trade-in this lappy. Still in very good condition. a little heartpain to release it but alas, I'm aiming for X201s if it's available.

I have these problem on my T410. Does anyone know what can I do to resolve it.

1. the XP mode stop working after activating the security chip on T410.
2. Static noise from docking station to speaker.
3. Wireless card dc often.
4. graphic goes to basic mode after some time.
5. power manager weird behavior, seen this in my T60 3 years ago.
6. Think vantage toolbox unable to read the bios, yet all the data are available.

This morning the service guy came, but they do not know what to do about all these. No answer for me.

For out of warranty sets, customer pays full rate right?

If so, do they get brand new replacement or refurbished m/b replacement?

its going to be a refurbished m/b replacement. which was once a faulty m/b.

my laptop facing so much problem now. but the service guy do not even know how to solve any of it.

Did you try using the Thinkvantage system update to get the latest drivers? Some of the problems you stated seems linked to the power manager. Perhaps a clean installation with Windows 7 may solve the issue. Searching on the Lenovo forums may also bear results.

out of warranty sets. u have to pay labour charge ($75) + price of part + GST. and the parts u replace have 1 year warranty from the date u made ur purchase.

Ok, thanks. Glad that Lenovo doesn't shortchange it customers, especially when one's paying full price for a replacement.

I know Philips will give a refurished set when it's DOA for brand new products before the Consumers Act was introduced.

Last time my X61 m/b was replaced. The engineer said he doesn't know whether it's new or refurbished.

He mentioned it was brought in from overseas. From the was it was packaged, it sure looked like a refurbished set. True enough, when I checked the bios, it was a old one.

it could be a new but old piece. meaning that it was used for testing. but everything is ok, then it will be sent back to store labelled 'GOOD PART' or something like that. this one i no comments because its controlled by the parts side.

Thinkpad L Series - Greenest Thinkpad ever?

L512-4L.jpg

Lenovo today introduced a new series of ThinkPad laptops - the L Series. Designed for business, government and education customers, the ThinkPad L412 and L512 laptops feature high performance with the latest Intel processing technologies, military tough durability and strong web conferencing features in an affordable laptop starting under $700. Additionally, the laptops are the greenest on the market by integrating the highest amounts of post consumer recycled content....

More details here:

Looks like a replacement for the R-series with similar traits - thick and heavy at 5-6kg! Though its greener...

cannot remember his name.

I list all my issues for them and how I try to fix it.

What I have done before contacting the service centre was I did a reinstallation of the whole system using a recovery disc from them. Then I went to few forums and found a few way of resolving the issue temporary. Like the wifi issue can be resolved by downgrading to an older driver.

He mentioned that he needs to take back my system back to service centre for testing, which can take up to 2 weeks with no confirmation of the issue can be resolved.

I was expecting him to bring a the HDD to test since this was what IBM service centre have told me. But he did not bring one.

I know there will be some issue with this laptop before I buy, but I did not expect so many!!! I just need the knowhow to fix these issues, I spent more time trying to resolve the issue than actually using it. But min solution is to fix the wifi issue, can still can live with the rest of the issue for the time being.

My Dell E6400 had a major fault in the design, but that was easy to resolve. This time round T410 was a little bit more tricky. Cause I do not have friends with the same configuration.

yup, used the TV system update, the wifi issue was due to a newer driver issue, had a temp fix by downgrading. Issue still appear every now and than.

Got rid of the power manager, its a main culprit in some of the issue I am having.

But the TVT Toolbox unable to read the bios is a complete different issue. Cause the 32bit Win 7 was able to read it.

And the XP mode stop working after i activated the security chip.:s11:

Looks like the current SL series.

The 3 years warranty for the battery is a plus point.

Can you describe the work that you normally do on your Thinkpad? W series is the most powerful of the lot, but heavier compared to the T series. The T410 with discrete graphics is probably a good choice - portable, good battery life, reasonably powerful, decent 14.1 screen size.

Hope this helps
