Am thinking of getting a T480s from Malaysia or US. Are warranties covered nowadays?

Looking at 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD and 3 years warranty. Costing only $1700+/- if bought in Malaysia.

Anyone have experience on receiving a spoiled brand new laptop from Lenovo?

Lenovo informed me that they need around 21 working days to repair my brand new thinkpad. Which means it takes 7 weeks (from the time i ordered online) for Lenovo to deliver a working laptop to me.

The Lenovo CSO advice that a 1to1 exchange will take even longer for me to receive my laptop and they can only "expedite" my request.

What can i do now? Do i have a case to report to CASE to help?

Try Alixpress, though if your CPU is soldered it's gonna be expensive cos you have to buy both the motherboard and CPU together.

finally after much thoughts, planning and coordination, managed to get the x1 carbon 8650u, 16gb ram and 1tb ssd for sgd $2500 from US. However, i have a problem displaying 4k @ 60fps from the HDMI port.

It says max from hdmi is 4K @ 30 fps
You need to use usb c to get 60 fps

The AMD versions are ridiculous low priced (with $200 off) at Lenovo website. A Ryzen 7 with 8gb Ram, 256gb SSD, FHD screen can be had for less than $1,000.

I need this for daily surfing, internet and my side biz. Is it worth to do an upgrade of ram/ssd or even cpu?

I just want it to work better or last me another 2-3 years.

or maybe just a new laptop? I asked coz i saw people doing upgrades before.

Usually not a problem. Can use Taobao send a message to them. So far has not encounter any issue. But was told by friend, you just need to take a video to proof not working. They send you another one.

Need to communicate in Chinese language.
