Anyone gotten their thinkpads from Newegg or Amazon?

I am thinking of getting X1 Carbon 6th gen from Newegg, but did not after hearing some poor reviews on both the machine and Lenovo warranty process on Reddit.

Hi everyone, I have a carbon gen 4 with a dark patch on the right side of the screen as seen on the picture link provided below ignore the dead pixel I am pointing at. I tried to file a warranty claim with Lenovo but they deem it as a user induced damage. Has anyone here with a Thinkpad ran into this issue with the screen and manage to convince Lenovo to replace the LCD? I do not see how is it a user induced damage as there are no evidence of crack or pressure applied around that area of the screen as well as the laptop casing behind the screen.

did you slam the cover once by accident? or subjected it to shock?

This kind of dark patch doesn't occur unless it was shocked either by way of a very hard close, etc.

Thanks for your input, the unit is not actually mine I am asking on behalf of a customer as she brought it to me. I was quite puzzled when Lenovo deemed it as user induced damage thus I am asking around forums for inputs as Lenovo was not able to provide me the specifics of what could cause such a issue for the LCD as this is my first time seeing it. At least according to the customer she did not recall any mishandling of the laptop.

Hi guys,

may I know where can view T480 and other Thinkpad in the store? I checked the website it says only Bugis service centre?

btw, anyone has any personal review of T480?

thinking of getting the t480, hoping that the launch of t490 will lead to good discount on the old models.

thanks.

Bugis is the best place both the Lenovo retail store LV3 and Challenger
downstairs have demo unit.

T490 will not arrive that soon, maybe June or soon according to leaks.

Thanks, just came out from the outlet.

Maybe I’m not well versed with the specs vs price, but I saw their starting price was $1.9xx with IPS screen. Somehow I felt it’s more expensive than the ones in their website.

And T480 does look much better in real life compared to tech videos and images!

Looks like a manufacturing issue to me. Heard Lenovo service centre always use the same reason to reject warranty claim.

if you think a $200 price drop is a lot by all means.
Eh I don't really follow the news and all that, but is there a reason why the t470 are going for under 1k now? Even with warranty. Is there some manufacturing defects or something?

Looking for a really portable device mainly for paperwork, so not willing to splash.

The t470 under 1k is only if you go for base specs.

If I max out all the options i still have to pay easily 4k plus.

I usually gett 5 year on site warranty with international option, keep your drive and sealed battery replacement.

Anyway, T470 has fallen behind already. Not really worth buying.

it was also not as well received since there was not much benefit over the T460.
Yeah, looking at the i5, 8gb. The main reason that I'm looking at it is because of its long battery life. 16 hours on paper, which hopefully translate to 8hrs irl. That plus it's mainly for paper work, light PowerPoint, html coding and internet surfing, can't think of a better deal.
