im starting to regret getting thinkclub's t410. it has been impossible to get WWAN on it.

seems like its impossible to buy the antenna here. maybe i should just sell it and buy one more.......

@ LSS - Did you try partsale@sg.ibm.com? Do you intend to get the antenna installed on your own or by the tech staff? It's probably one of the most difficult parts to access in your Thinkpad...have to practically dismantle your entire unit and get behind the LCD panel...its a toughie.

Another reason why thinkclub can offer such low prices...coz they skip such components.

Bro. U sure yours is without the antenna???

Cause it's all built in. Why dun u show us the wwan slot by taking a photo to prove that there is no antenna.

i have no problem doing it myself actually. the helpdesk told me something like they afraid cant upgrade because mine isnt listed as wwan upgradable. i told them i was willing to take the risk and they diverted me to the email you listed.

i gave them a list of the parts i wanted, wwan antenna, gobi2000, 9 cell battery and the wxga+ lcd that i was considering.

in the end they only quoted me for the 9cell. everything else dont have :s27:. they told me to visit retailers as they might have it. there they told me that i should just sell it and buy a new one -.-".

i checked. confirm dont have the antenna.

Wah...now I understand why they advised you to get another set. The WXGA+ LCD alone already cost at least $500+++. If you include the other components, easily $1000+. In this case, really, may as well get a new set. How old is your current set?

less than 3 months old actually. i want the wwan because usb 3g stick out like a sore thumb literally and it loses connection when i touch it. it doesnt help that i move around alot with the laptop in suspend. i cant even put it into my bag with it attached...

the screen resolution could be higher too so i dont have to scroll left and right as much.

actually based on RRP. it might still be worth it, i have 2 extra gb of ram a better wireless card with the only tradeoffs being the antenna and the screen for 940 dollars less. as long as the lcd and antenna is less than 940, i'll consider it as me getting a good deal.

the only problem now is getting the parts -.-

Turbo Memory

@ Ahtea....what bracket? My Turbo Memory came preinstalled so I didnt need to do anything. It's just that I've been using XP ever since, so had no chance to use the turbo memory

I just did a clean installation of Windows 7 ultimate over my xp yesterday and so far the results are pretty good. The most noticable improvement is my shut down time...hahaha....6 seconds (or is that normal?). HDD seems to be more quiet too. Boot up is still about a sub-1 minute, so not much difference. Apps wise, I've yet to test anything like Photoshop or Flash. But I read that it's supposed to speed up performance, reduce hdd access time, improve battery life...etc with the use of Windows Ready Drive and Windows ReadyBoost.

Good news is that you can also use the card readers and stick a high performance SDcard or the like to almost have the same effect as turbo memory

More info on Turbo Memory here

Will update again once I've done more testing... :)
