Yes, there is a way to calibrate the battery.

You should also check the settings on when your battery starts charging.

1) Launch ThinkVantage Power Manager (in Advance View)
2) Go to the "Battery" tab
3) Look for this button which says "Battery Maintenance" and click on it
4) There is an option to set when the battery will start charging (check this)
5) Another option is to calibrate the battery (run this)

i notice there is a very very soft noise like static noise or squeeking sound coming

from the bottom left corners of the keyboard.I believe that is the location of the

hdd.Is that normal?if i dun listen attentively or if the background not quiet enough

u wont notice it.



my qn is that normal?is that sound due to hdd working or what could be the

issues?sorry guys if i sound too paranoid lol

I've been playing around with the Windows Readyboost and ReadyDrive on my T61p and X200 and there is a slight improvement in terms of the time it takes to launch applications. You can try it out yourself if you have vista/win 7 with a media card reader too. Just stick a spare 2gb+ (but has got to be fast like 80x or more), right click > properties > readyboost/readydrive. Try either one but not both on the card.
I've set my 2gb turbo memory to readyboost and 2gb SDcard to readydrive on my X200 and it seems faster...

For my T61p, it seems a little cooler and quieter due to the reduced frequency of accessing the hd i think...some people say this will help with battery life too ( i guess theoratically)

Appreciate some other thoughts or comments on turbo memory...

has anyone ever tried downgrading a T61(or any similar exp) Win Vista Business Edition to WinXP?

m thinking of doing so. Could u kindly recommend a shop or anyone who could do this, or should i go to Changi and get it down?

i followed this guide, and it worked very well for me

of cos, i would recommend win7 now. it feels... better

Got to check the service manual.

If I am not mistaken, some other parts might need to be changed to incorp the WXGA+ screen (some parts other than the screen has a different P/N).

Could you please enlighted what is the difference between ReadyBoost and ReadyDrive?

I have tried ReadyBoost before. Yes, you need a fast SD card else you won't actually see a significant improvement in performance.
