Hi Taimiyyah, Most definitely able to play games. Haha. I have a T61p that has a Nvidia Quadro FX570M for almost 3+ years already and have been using it to play lots of FPS games like Fallout 3, Mass Effect 2, Half Life 2 and Portal. Though I am not able to run the game at max 1400x1050 resolution, it still plays quite well at 1024x768. The Thinkpad does get hot after a long session, but not for Mass Effect. I think they managed to optimise the game quite well so the game runs smoothly even at my max resolution.

@ taimiyyah - Oh yah...upgrade to Win 7 as soon as possible. I was also using Windows XP for the longest time until recently upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and I'm happy with the performance so far. Very stable.

FYI, I bought my copy from this guy for $130. Its a dell oem installer, but it works great. Just pop the DVD in and can install over XP from boot up. There will be an option to wipe the previous OS. Took less than an 45 min to install. :)

I think so too.

Yah. Unless i strike toto, I can't bear to pay for a decent sized ssd. Haha..I think i'll wait till a 500gb ssd costs the same as our current 500gb hdd...prob in another year or two.

I checked the price of SSD, but i think the cheapest is still 180+sgd for a 30Gb or something...

while a normal HDD you can get for 60sgd.

And that the SSD is also prone to hdd failure... Any thots on this?

btw, went to IBM Changi yesterday and enquire abt upgrading win7, i was told that i had to buy the upgrade DVD on my on from outside, and they will charge me 75sgd for labour. Faint liao!

im using a SSD on my S10, and it has been convenient so far :) and from wat i heard, SSD MTBF is quite high, so...

and besides, i read somewhere that even if the flash cells are unable to write any data, u can still retrieve the data that was already saved. so there's no data loss. but of cos, this one i cant confirm

I need some advice.

I am trying to install Win7 from scratch on my T400. However, I would like to keep the Q: and S: which came with my T400.

Any advice on how I could do that? Have tried and everytime after I did an reinstall, the Q: and S: becomes D: and E: and I need to change it manually to Q: and S:.

Q: and S: are just drive letters you can rename them from Disk Manager with a right click.
