haha not to worry lcd benzel only has 4 screws.

i think i get it. the FRU isnt meant to be fully installed. it has extra stuff -.-"

i believe this is due to having cards (esp wifi) that has differing number of connectors therefore you install the correct antenna part based on which expansion parts you are using.

:s27: this also means the cost of this particular FRU could have been halved if they split it up so i wont have to buy the parts that i didnt need. paid a little over 100 btw.

Wah...you mean you just opened up the LCD panel without first removing it from the hinges ah? When i removed mine the last time, I had like about 2 dozen screws

in order to actually perform the replacement of course got alot of screws. but just to see see look look behind the lcd only 4 screws is enough.

I just bought a new 6 cell battery for my T61 yesterday, but the moment it reached 100% fully charge, the battery capacity degraded from its design capacity... (from 56.16 to 56.02)

Is it normal? it is still reasonable if the battery started to degrade after 10 charge cycle. It was its first charge and I haven't discharged it yet...

Hello. I have not encountered this for my battery(believe me, it was really 0% for well over a year until now) but i do know that is common at least for Lenovo batteries. My friend's ideapad s10-3's battery had minor(<10% wear) a few days after using, and even after swapping a new battery from Lenovo wear set in after a few days..4% now if im right :)

thx for the info ... how long can the battery last when its full charged?

120 - 150 mins on a full charge. I was able to get up to 4 hours on reduced brightness, integrated gfx mode and ultralight usage though.

Amazing that your battery can last so long with 0% wear. :D

I think it is about time to get a new battery though.

Yea. I think somehow I got a "good" battery or that my usage prevented any wear.

Im still wondering whether to get a new battery though. Even if the battery degrade all the way to 50% wear , I would get roughly an hour worth of battery life. My AC Adaptor is usually brought along wherever i utilize the laptop as well.

PS: For optimal battery monitoring, i recommend replacing the Lenovo Power Manager's battery gauge on the tasktray with BatteryBar. The basic one as well as paid Pro is able to replicate the former's functions as well as give additional useful information.

Is it supposed to be degrading that fast? And I haven't started to use it yet...

In this rate my new battery will turn from 'good' condition' to 'poor' condition very soon... :s11:
I think it is ok. Once the battery reach a certain wear level, it is quite stable.

Don't be over worried, batteries are covered for 1 year. Anything wrong within 1 year, just bring it back to Lenovo for an exchange.

Hmm, though the specs of the W510 is good, the size is on the larger side. Was contemplating amongst the three models earlier this year also.

I bought the X201 from Republic Poly and am loving it.

Personally I feel that a notebook is never on par with a desktop. Hence I'm using my i5-750 desktop for intensive apps and the X201 mainly for portability and battery life.

NTU Lenovo X201 cost about $200 bucks more but you get 3 years warranty for battery and MS Office 2007.

Crap, everywhere doesn't sell X61 4 cell battery except for 1 online shop based at MacPherson. Makes me wonder about the stock whether it's new or not.

my previous battery is still holding 64% of original capacity but it can only last one hour and thirty minutes with everything low, including maximum CPU usage set to 20% and Wifi to maximum power saving... and only for web surfing...

It is really troublesome for such short unplugged time...

Is the battery still under warranty?
