I think SIm Lim has. The last time I asked and they are asking for around $250.
New laptop is cheap now. So to reapir at this price does not seem worth to do it. I have a bad T61 too, confirmed board problem. (no power).

For X220, 64-bit OS with 8GB really make much difference? What can it really do though the graphics card is integrated.
I believed that there should be no problem running multiple VMware right?

I have several clients who have purchased the W520 for this purpose. They like it because of the quad core processor, 4x4GB of memory, FHD display with nVidia 2000M gfx card (not sure why they need so much graphical power, perhaps output to multiple screens?) and also the swapping of the ultrabay for 2x500GB HDD :s22:

Not sure how the X220 will perform, but you will likely need the i7 processor, 8GB ram and 500GB HDD

Performance negligable i feel. I tried before. Unless you do benchmarking or constant CPU intensive applications (like AutoCad and video rendering) then you will see the difference.

I see. Thanks, so i think its not a problem then. I read lenovo forums and many ppl are complaining about the CPU..

Complaining because?

I think it is because the Lenovo forums are saying that the i7 X220s are experiencing throttling problems when both CPU & GPU are stressed 100% due to the lack of power from the 65w chargers.

However, Lenovo is looking into it and will be releasing a new BIOS to solve this.

I have not personally encountered this problem because:

1. I do not purposely stress test the X220
2. My work does not require high CPU & GPU usage

Ya throttling issue, i think regarding the power supply is not providing enough power for x220 (without battery) to process at full speed. However, with battery, it can solve this problem though.

Just wondering,
1) if laptop purchases from school, can the school image be used to wipe out using the recovery disc?

2) anyone uses gobi wireless 3G with X220?

Meaning?

If you mean if the school image can be wiped out with the recovery disk, I think yes, you can do it.
