Yup, the island style keyboard is definitely much better than I expected but after using the X230 for about 1 mth, I still prefer my X220's traditional keyboard. I also miss the Page Back and Page Forward on the X220. So I am back to the X220, the X230 is back to the cupboard.

There are pictures of the "new" mSATA SSD design over at Lenovo forums but we wait and see!

Are the Tx20 and Tx30 series keyboard the same size? Can it be swopped?

Anyone here using the docking station? I'm thinking of ordering the USB3 set with 170w adaptor. It allows for 2 monitor output through mini DP.

Cost about USD 215.

I was thinking that I can just plug one 27 inch monitor using the mini DP port on the notebook instead and save the money.

I have the Ultrabase Series 3 for my X220. Bought it 2nd hand off a fellow forumer at S$120. Definitely worth the cash but not when brand new though!

Am using the Ultrabay Slim device bay for an additional HDD. and my monitor is connected to it permanently.

Unfortunately, it only has 4 x USB2.0 slots instead of USB3.0 but it is no biggie because I still can use the USB3.0 slot on the laptop.

Are the Tx20 and Tx30 series keyboard the same size? Can it be swopped?

I haven't compared the Tx20 and the Tx30 laptops but I believe they are NOT interchangeable. From my experience of my X220 and X230, firstly, the keyboard layout is different, 7-rows compared to 6-rows, and secondly, since there are more keys on the 7-rows keyboard, I believe the BIOS would be different as well. So changing keyboards is impossible.

Can't have the best of both worlds :(

Cheers!

Keyboard: from reviews online, at least it seemed that Lenovo has kept the essence of Thinkpads on the X1C, and I am very interested in having a go during COMEX. =:p At least they didn't butcher the design by swapping the Fn and Ctrl keys to the "correct" format :s13: Personally, I think I will miss the six-key-cluster of Insert/Delete/Home/End/PgUp/PgDown keys at the top right.

It's mSATA format, although some people are reporting that the installation looks slightly different from a standard mSATA component. We shall see...

the msata ssd on the x1 carbon is by sandisk...not the regular type....check my post above....

Was looking at the X1C today during Comex. The black really makes the laptop look so much slicker. And the touchpad is so much better than whatever Lenovo has in the past. Can't give a definite answer but after 5mins with it, I can say that it is almost "macbook" good!

U are right about the mSATA SSD, it is different from normal, more like the macbook kind.

Perhaps you can sell me the SSD? Am thinking of getting a X230 and then swapping out the HDD to make it lighter :)

Hi guys,

I have a query. I own a old Lenovo Thinkpad X61. Does anyone know if I can swap out the hdd for a SSD? Will there be any significant performance gain?

Thank you.

just got my X1 carbon i7 from Juzz1 today... really a thin and light laptop. The keyboard is indeed, the best I have ever used (I had MBA X 2, HP X 2, Sony X 3, MBP X 1, Fujitsu X 1)...

the screen is nice and crisp and colors appear very very well on the matt display.

to carry this laptop the whole day is a breeze, every with the power brick.

I think this laptop will carry me forward to 2014. Hopefully by then, IPS screen will be available with a bigger SSD.
