is the warranty extension instanteneous the moment the order is accepted by Lenovo? I am still waiting for changes to my warranty date as the item is supposed to be non-shippable

Just check via the IWS site -- for the 4 digit model number... Mine was covered in IWS from the database shown...

Your sales guy in Lenovo US live chat will tell you the same thing too.... The 4 digit model number starts with a 4 -- mine is 4270, I think for W520. They have many variants, for online models vs pre configured retail models.

Also I believe all Online models do not have the 56k modem installed.

I remembered checking with the SG - ASEAN Registration team, and they had to do something, as I asked for the onsite warranty start date to change to the day I receive the laptop in Singapore and not when they ship out from Shanghai Lenovo Factory to CGW Address.

So the Asean Reg team linked me to the Lenovo US registration team and got the date changed.
how did u contact the SG-ASEAN team?

Iit takes about 14 working days for the extension to be reflected on the warranty website.

hope someone can help me on this issue.

the seller claims it's brand new/not refurbished.

i searched a part number (eg 2752-xxx) on lenovo site and under the detail description of the parts used it says "refurb 2752-aaa....." the specs are slightly different also.

does it mean this is new as the seller is claiming or lenovo modified the refurbished ones?

anyone.........................

no hardcopy invoice. same as when you purchase the laptop.
just printing out or saving the web order record should be enough.

My X220 is having problem on the wifi adapter. I am completely unable to connect to Wifi connections. It will keep connecting and disconnection, unable to identify network. Anyone got this similar problem?

Have you updated to the latest Access Connections 5.85? It adds a new tab "Mobile Hotspot".

Lenovo Singapore replied on a Facebook post, saying the X1 Carbon will be priced "starting at" SG$2349. Even if I were to adjust for pre-GST prices (2349 / 1.07 = 2195 thereabouts), that's US$1761!!! That can easily get you the base i7 model + shipping from US already...

Will continue to patiently wait for Windows 8 to be pre-installed + price-drop at the end of the year. My Z61t with a SSD upgrade refuses to "retire" still, despite being desk-bound already...

RAM on X1C is soldered. That is the main reason I have ordered a T430 instead. \=

Thinking of loading up an ADATA mSATA SSD (Sandforce controller) on the T430. Anyone using it?

I got a mailer from Lenovo US last night. Yea. the prices are much cheaper than SG but they don't include 3 year warranty. Since it's so new, I'm not expecting any discounts. but this is definitely on my buy list.

Not happy about the soldered ram though - max 8 gig.

Best Price I was able to get for base model X1 carbon was $999 USD

• Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit)
• 14.0" Premium HD+ (1600x900) LED Backlit Display, 720p HD Camera, Mobile Broadband Enabled
• Intel HD 4000 Graphics in Intel Core i5-3317U Processor with 4GB 1333MHz DDR3L On Board
• 4 GB PC3-10600 DDR3L SDRAM 1333MHz SODIMM Memory (1 DIMM)

But please note that so far IWS has not been updated for this model, so not sure 100% covered under IWS or not. Buy at own risk

I have been using my T420 for about a year + now. I am thinking of upgrading my T420 to SSD with additional HDD in the optical drive.

Can anyone tell me how can i go about doing this ? :s22:

Easiest is to clone your current HDD to a SSD, with the SSD in the ultrabay (in place of the optical drive) then swap the SSD to the HDD slot and the HDD into the ultrabay.

Test the SSD if it is in TRIM mode, before formatting the HDD.

Another way is to use ur Recovery Discs. Remove and replace the HDD with the SSD. Then run your recovery discs to install the factory image on your SSD. Once all tests are fine, then put in your HDD in the ultrabay. Lenovo Recovery Discs will auto TRIM your SSD.

Cheers!
