are u using a thumbdrive?
u can try putting it in, then when u reboot and enter BIOS u can see it there....however, i haven't actually tried booting from usb thumbdrive cos its still empty

I think you hit the Access IBM button and look for the Battery Maximiser Wizard... there should be something there to set the CPU speed to Maximum (depending on which power profile you choose)

Thanks alot! Running at wordprocessing mode with CD audio, and full batt lasts only around 2:40mins? Quite low I think... but the High performance option is really scary.... battery life is shortened by even more!

Actually now I am stress testing the system, coz going to bring to Australia to study liaoz... so if anything break down, hopefully is before I go australia then break down lor.... And then hope this system can last me for 3 years! cheers!

if you want better battery performance then get a extended battery like me

abit more heavy but can last 4 hrs on high performance mode and almost 7 hrs on super saver mode

I realised that this demon is very fast!

My last laptop, portege 2000 with 512mb ram, lags when I run Kazaa. Always have to close kazaa, restarts machine before i get to work on my laptop decently.

With this beast, even with kazaa running, all apps runs smoothly.

One thing I wanna share is: recondition your battery. Every now and then, run your laptop til it squeeze its juice to around 3%. Then recharge.

Thinking of getting a docking station.... but need to lay my hands on Panasonic TX22LT first before I can hook this baby onto it...

i am sorry, do you own a T40? as it doesn't comes wif a floppy builtin.

thats why i am asking this, if really can't then maybe need to buy one USB floppy drive liao

Lots of people complain that IBM thinkpads are boring and look horrible, all black!

But I personally think it's kinda cool and it gives a very professional business look.

If you go to IBM website in Taiwan, they have this exercise call HEI QING YI ZU (Black Green Clan)...probably in hokkien means Blue Black! heehee... anyway, it promotes the idea of using Black machines by youngster as a fashion icon...

Erm, what happens if the battery is used until 0%?? Will it have any detrimental effects? And will I lose any settings/options if it dips too low in power? Thanks!

Well, you won't be able to reach 0% as IBM would shut down your machine by 2%.

Anyway, it doesn't matter how much percent you have left (of course, the lesser the better) when you recharge the batteries...

Two things I am not happy with Thinkpad is: 1) not bundled with Lotus Smartsuite or Viavoice. 2) the speaker is weak.

the indian fellow who answer my call say the thumb drive is not their product and they ask me to seek help from the manufacturer.

i F him and say that my friend can boot up using the same thumb drive on compaq tablet pc then he say that maybe i should email them via email and they will try to get back to me later

You will most likely need to buy a bootable diskette drive. If not, you can also boot from CD if i am not wrong.

It is quite normal. If you are using batteries, i suggest that you set it to minimum performance to allow the batteries to last longer. Set it unless you really need the power.

First charge for battery = 10 hrs

then after tt still ned to do a few times 2 condition the battery or to "wake" up the battery?

anyone haf any ideas?

Never realized there are quite a lot of IBM notebook users! Thought Toshiba should have alot more.
