Sounds like a motherboard problem. You can try to bring it in and have the technician take a look at it, but this will cost you $60 - 70. Alternatively I've seen some shops in Sim Lim doing laptop repairs, so no harm checking it out too. 5 years is very good ROI, its just a pity since all the other parts are still functioning.

T43 is released in 2005, so it is almost 8 years!

I went to IBM Place at Changi Business Park yesterday. The notebook is in working condition. The adaptor (spoilt) caused the power plug to blow its fuse (ie. it blew up the fuse of the power plug when the guy use to check out my machine). I changed the fuse myself ($1) and with the new adaptor, problem is solved. No charge from the service centre.

I love this notebook. Never had any issues with it (touch wood!)

Buying ThinkPad from US

Looks like Lenovo pulled the plug for us to buy ThinkPads from the US. I managed to buy one using Amazon + comgateway address, but the second purchase was cancelled by Amazon.

Anyone else successfully made multiple purchases using vpost or borderlinx?

T61 finally dead

My long service T61 had finally fall victim to the nVidia gpu issue. Any idea how much if needs to get it repair??

For those who are intending to upgrade from HDD to SSD on your x230 laptop, do take note.

On-board mSATA support up to 3 GB/s
If you install a mSATA SATA3 6 GB/s SSD, it will only run at SATA2 3 GB/s speed.

7mm SATA3 6 GB/s SSD
The slot is meant for 7mm thick SSD/HDD, normal 9mm cannot fit.

Lastly, there's a 3 seconds delay at the screen with a mSATA SSD compared to normal 2.5" SSD/HDD.

How come there is a 3 seconds delay?

Not sure but it takes 3 seconds longer to boot up with a msata ssd.

Is it because of the HDD boot priority?

Hi, just brought a T430 and swap to a 128gb msata. Somehow I manage to corrupt my recovery partiton thus i am not able to recover back to factory setting. Do anyone else have any other idea where I can i download the lenovo recovery disk without getting it from lenovo? I plan to reinstall a fresh window 7 in the msata.

If you didnt back it up before you formatted it, then its gone. You can install your Windows 7 as per normal then download ThinkVantage System Update. It will automatically download all the required drivers for your ThinkPad.

Actually, since the msata is only running at 3GB only (sata2), isn't it better to run the OS on a SSD at 6GB (sata3) and use the msata as a storage/backup instead?

From what I gathered previously... Ideapad is not covered under their IWS....

Only Thinkpads are covered.
