u pressed the blue button right? try opening it from windows itself. maybe its not install or probably at the wrong path

thks i will go dl it and btw hwo can i set the processor speed to maximum coz it seems that no matter which scheme i choose, the information page shows that the processor speed is only at 600mhz which is the default speed for portable or laptop.

so what do we actually do if T40 users crashes their laptops, i.e. cannot go into WinXP?

It will depend on the suitation.

Should there is a need to format the Hard Disk using the hidden parition, I will be using it loh.

Should any of the solution do not help, I guess I will send it for servicing.

Well, i bought my T40 on ebay and it came with the XP pro CD. It's a refurb but i can't tell the difference. As good as new. There's warranty also.

slow keyboard and mouse response

Recently, when playing counterstrike, occasionally i will encounter dramatic slowed in keyboard and mouse response....
For example when i press 'move forward',i will only move forward after 2-3 secs, same goes for the mouse. This effect will come and go.

I dun think this is caused by my connection cos my friend plug his laptop to my internet port but he did not experience any lagg.

I am using IBM R40.Does anyone know the cause of this? Is it because i kena virus?

hmmm i got this problem for my usb mouse instead its like everytime an application is on like MS words or even IE, when i leave the system idle for just merely 30 seconds, i resume using it it sort of stuck for about 0.5 second be4 it operate normally again. any ideal wat could be te problem?

Help Needed for Laptop Upgrade

Hi all IBMers,

I have a Laptop which I would like to upgrade but need to seek some advice from you guys. As this thread is big in terms of users, I though I can get better help here. So sorry to include a Compaq into an IBM thread though

My Compaq Presario 12XL506 currently runs on:
Windows 98 SE
Processor - Celeron 766MHZ
RAM - 60MB
Harddisk - 10GB
24x CD-ROM
v90 Modem
Laptop purchased in 2001.

I was thinking of improving it's performance by upgrading the RAM to:
RAM - 256MB
Harddisk - 40GB (max for my model?)
Internal DVD-CDRW bundle

Do you therefore think, in your opinion, it is worth of me to spend money on the above upgrades when the CPU is a primitive 2 year old Celeron 766Mhz? Will the increase in RAM really help my applications speed up?

By the way, being blur another question, is Celeron 766Mhz = to Pentium 3 766Mhz??

System restore

I didn't know the WinXP System Restore took up so much disk space.

I was wondering lately how come my C drive size have been decreasing lately. Only when I turn off the System monitoring, my C drive gained back 1G+ of disk space!

Does anyone here use the System Restore feature? Everytime I install/uninstall some software, the diskspace decrease much

i dun think a celeron can compare with intel pentium... aniwae... how much will all those upgrades cost?
