Look for the sticker with the barcode on the right under-side of your lappy, the number looks like "2373-XXX". If XXX shows 72A, then your model is 72A.

For evo7_31, does your one come with Intel Wireless?
if so it is AA1.
if not is 51A.

as for the web price being $5000+ for 72A, it is becos it is:
2374-72A

2373 - 3 years international carry-in
2374 - 3 years international on-site (limited countries)

personally feel 2374 basically only for the really lazy or very insistent pple who wan full service - @$2000 more...

well, IBM T40 & X31 notebooks can upgrade to on-site 9x5, 4-hour respond @ $199 only (local only).

1GB RAM for my R40

Hey Guys,

I recently upgraded my R40 from 256MB to 1GB. Good for me.
I just got it for a few bucks (approx. S$230 for 2pcs of 512mb - converted from Php). The brand is Samsung and it worked fine and with no problem.

The person who sold me buys his memories from the US and he basically supplies some Authorized IBM Resellers which they also buy it at the same price I got but they sell it for more than S$300 per 512mb module.

FYI.

can tell me how u get the ram?

thanx in advance.. :)

:) I met the seller thru the Internet and he gave all the specs of the memory he is selling. We then decided to meet at the computer shop of his friend for us to test it on my thinkpad. We bought 4 pcs of 512mb already from him. My friend and I now has 1gb of ram. :)

Went into the BIOS screen for the T40.... under the IBM security Chip tab.... the default setting is disabled... what is that for?

That is to turn on the built in ESS (Embedded Security Subsystem). You need to do this before you install the CSS (Client Security Software).
