2373 - 3 years international carry-in limited warranty
2374 - 3 years international on-site limited warranty.

you can only find 2373 in shops.
2374 virtually for some niche group only.

Main new features, other than the APS, i've seen so far:

- new PC2700 333 MHz SODIMM RAMs
- ATI Mobility RADEON 9000 graphics might be mainstream
- IBM Wireless 802.11a / b / g debuts

maybe there's support for the new Pentium M CPU w/ 2MB L2 cache, but no confirmation yet. It might come in T42 or T43.

guys, do u have problem with hissing sound emanating from the fan louvers (T40) ? Is it normal? coz very annoying for me. It starts to emanate just after a few minutes, and keeps sounding even when I'm not using my computer n just let it on. also there is a constant cracking sound coming out for a certain period of time.I got check with my friends Fujitsu S6120, n they don't have the same prob.

The fan actually scraps some metal surface when it spins and vibrates too fast...

It will not occur when you are on battery mode.

It usually occurs when you plug in AC.

I suppose it happens when you use full power settings.

I think it also happens when you use opengl 3D or if you are using the lcd as well as external vga.

Fan problem at high speed. But low speed is okay.

seriously, IBM notebooks dun have good sound at all, at least for the current range. however, you just need to plug to external speakers to solve this problem.

if you have only 2K to spend, then you can only look at R40 series - but they are the 2nd heaviest after the G40 (which you need not even consider - 4kg++).

R40 series 14.1" models 2.9Kg, and their video RAM is only 16MB, good enough for CS, and maybe Warcraft, not many other 3d games.
15" models 3.3Kg, video RAM is 32MB.
R40 price can also range from $1999 to $3499.
A popular model will be the 2681-JWA:
P4m 2.2, 256MB, 30GB, CDRW/DVD Comb, ATI RADEON 7500 16MB, USB FDD, WinXP Pro, 1 Year International.
Seriously, with a budget of 2K, no brands can give you good sound and graphic, unless ya talking about Dell

Fujitsu S6120 vs IBM T40

T40:
bigger screen 14.1"
longer battery life
dedicated 32MB graphics
magnesium composite casing
arguably the best keyboard in the market
lightest 14" notebook around
3 Years warranty covering parts & labour
no firewire port, no flash memory slots.

S6120:
best compromise in size & weight (13.3" vs 1.8kg)
good design with outstanding finish
shared graphics
firewire port
useful port replicator included
3 years warranty, but 2nd & 3rd year dun cover service

if ya interested in T40, can let me know.
for S6120, go to Fujitsu shop @ Funan Cte, 3rd level (near escalator above KFC)
