Haiyo, that alternative quite far off leh, as in, big diff from your x220.

Well, for a start to play around with Mac OS and just purely for PowerPoint usage for ProPresenter, I think it is good enough.

I am still not satisfied with my X220, I am still hunting for a X series Tablet version...:D

dont see why not i use with T410.

Ok, noted. Will PM the seller to see how much he is asking for..:)

ive requested for the disks before 2013 dec ask they give 2011 version for T410s. :s13:

Is it free, what you tell them?
If it is a small amount to get a copy of the recovery discs, I will try to get from Lenovo for my X220...:D

Looks like Lenovo is stopping production of the X230 Tablet - the last line of models that feature the signature swivel display panel.

In replacement, they are pushing the ThinkPad Yoga - currently the only model that features a stylus pen.

Often confused with this one - the Ideapad Yoga 2 Pro w/o stylus

Btw, just sent my Tablet for repair at Changi Business Park and they mentioned that they would be moving to Kaki Bukit before end of Jan. Maybe good news to some of you... ;)

Not interested in the ThinkPad Yoga, I still like the X220 or X230 design. I will try to get a tablet version of X220 or X230 if budget permits, pre-owned of course..

Moving to Kaki Bukit depends on which part of the area, there may be a direct bus from my area's interchange...:D

Hi. Which model should I get for a cheap but durable thinkpad? I don't use it to game but for watching shows (via streaming) plus work and school stuff. with no problem for long hour usage (8 hours)? i don't require those high end ones at all.

(don't mind paying for 3 years warranty)

any recommendations?

interesting...

Woah... now this is what the T420s is supposed to be! 14" of super slim goodness!

I can spy 2x USB3.0, 1x HDMI, microphone, 1 SD slot (finally for Lenovo ultrabooks, particularly the U-series), web camera and no fingerprint reader.

I wonder why is it still 1366 x 768 on a 14" screen though. Too bad, they have gone with the chiclet keyboard instead of the famous Thinkpad keyboard. :(

I suspect that the Chiclet keyboard may make too much sound ?

I have spilt some coffee onto the keyboard and touch pad of my out of warranty x1. Now some keys don't work anymore. Is there any way to self fix it?

Hi. My X61 fan has failed, probably due to accumulating years of dust. How should I go about fixing it?

1. Buy a fan myself and replace it myself.
2. Bring to SLS for a shop to replace fan and also help to clean up the laptop of all the years of dust.

For 1, where can I find the fan and roughly how much does it cost? I take it that it is possible to replace the fan only (and not heatsink fan)?

For 2, there should be such service in SLS right? How much would it cost to clean up the laptop and replace the fan?

Thanks!

Edit 1: I just bought this fan from ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-CPU-Coo...399?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item58a1ba22af
Shall replace it myself.

Edit 2: While dismantling my x61, I broke the hole which holds the PCMCIA slot cover in place. So now the PCMCIA slot is uncovered. Since I don't use it, I'll just tape it up to cover the slot.

Edit 3: Anyone used middleton bios for x61 to support SATA II?

Happy New Year to All!

Did anyone manage to get the T440s in FHD Display? I looking for one, but from what I understand, Lenovo Singapore do not bring in the machine with FHD.

Also, does the local T440s come with backlit keyboard and 3G/LTE connectivity?

It is very frustrating that Lenovo SG does not allow customization while Lenovo US prevents the sale of laptop to foreign countries.

You can try checking out at Funan 3rd level, one of the shop in between the 2 escalators at both ends where they sell Thinkpads. I got my X230 with IPS screen from them. Most places didn't carry this customised X230 then.

I'll try to search for it. Meanwhile, still very confused between the T440s and the NEW X1 Carbon.

i heard the new x1 carbon is out on US retail stores?

anyone knows when will it come to singapore or it has reached retail stores here?

quite interested to see how the 2560x1440 fits on a 14" instead of the 1600x900 panel.

I did use the bios for my T61p for my INTEL 320 160GB SSD and the performance is great. Too bad the INTEL 320 series write is also capped, if not it will be even faster.

how much is a new x230 currently in the market?x240 out yet?

As far as I know X230 is obsolete and now Lenovo Singapore only sells X240 or X1 Carbon for their X series here.

Although I feel now getting a T series is much more worth the value.....

just received my X1 Carbon Haswell...

the exterior looks very similar to the previous version but it's a tad lighter, slimmer. The external material coated feels different too...

of course, the function keys are gone.. replaced by some LED function keys that changes as you change your apps....

ports are all USB 3.0 now, so that's good too...

Not sure if everyone here knows there is a Lenovo ThinkPad service centre at Funan level 3 if you do not want to travel all the way to Changi or Kaki Bukit in this case?:D

They only service ThinkPad series if I am not wrong, not other Lenovo models..
