If the margin is really thin and the stall is dependent on volume-sales, boycotting it will cause it to close down.

If the stall is really profiteering with obscene margins, will the owner ngeh ngeh, stubborn, ego, refuse to give way to the market, demand side? That depends on the person.

Those boomer hawker their rental is dirt cheap don't care about the margin.
Only for those younger generations ex chef are selling higher price due to the rental but than they are the one who close down very fast cause their food sucks.

I guess is not everyone is united to face against the business.

Some people who can afford will still go eat and pay. These people don't care whether the rest can afford or not.
It depends. Some will have rational thinking, not worth paying the amount for it and perfectly fine to skip it.

Others with multiple expenses amd meed prudent spending will either reduce their unnecessary spendings. From 4x a mth to 1x a mth.

The other group will be those retrenched. They will be the ones to stop patronising.

All in all, there will be a reduction in sales volume.

The more difficult group to target are students. Unless their pocket money is cut, tgey are too young to understand and majority will still buy like normal.

Ya I dun order drinks from foodcourt or coffeeshop. But less 1 customer makes no diff... all the ah peks & other customers order drinks like no body biz

appalled why CASE allow these F&B operator to charge 50c for less ICE and $1 for no ICE.
consumer right ish non existent here in sillypore!

simply ridiculous, doesnt it cost more to PRODUCE ice? i should be given a discount instead of being charged more for requesting less ICE

Quite unlikely to happen now, unless huge retrenchment happens. Like that auntie say, is ok we can pay since we still have a job.

The ock shop in tpy is obviously having shorter n shorter queue each time I pass by, sometimes no queue, since covid started, but it still can continue to increase price.

It is difficult because of media brain washing. If people start posting things like waaa so expensive on tik tok, ppl might think twice. But influencer is marketing they side business not consumers.

I'm imagining these will happen

The businesses will slowly give up on the groups you mentioned.

The business will then shift their targeted customers to people who can afford.

Slowly business will realise these group will never go back to them again.

Business will be used to that kind of prices to run their operation.

The prices will become a norm.

Then such business upgrade themselves to become a high end consumption instead of economy consumption.

Wonder if such a thing will happen

If we notice the food court nasi Padang stall change hand very often.

Also seldom or hardly see India stall at food court.

Example hawker or coffee shop mee goreng already 5 dollar. Food court they sell 7 dollar meh

They will simply shut down that location and relocate to somewhere where they can make ends meet. (Where people can actually afford to spend that much for their products) :(

I know in reality wont happen cos SG got many rich elites, FTs and tourists.

But I am just imagining a scenario if everyone really stop patronizing a certain foodcourt or curry puff (for example), say their business drop by 90% in 1 day.... after a week or two will they revise their prices downwards?
Some might but majority will not la. Also will just go out of biz.
