STOP THE PRESS! The Absolute Sound: Wowed by the iDSD+iCAN

"Let me just jump right in and say that the iDSD nano sounds ridiculously good for the money—more than competitive with other portable DACs I’ve heard thus far"

"If you weren’t able to hold the compact device in the palm of you hand (with room left over) and if you judged it purely on sound quality, you might easily think the iCAN was one of today’s nicer desktop headphone amps. Yes, really."

Thanks Mr Chris Martens!

iFi Audio iPurifier review by Francesco Donadel Campbel - the editor in chief of HDPhonic

“Honestly, I must say that I was initially skeptical about the benefits of such a product. In fact, in the world of professional audio the use of the USB port has often been viewed with suspicion and for years the firewire port gained a better reputation. However, I had to change my mind thanks to the optimizations implemented in our studio. In this way the iPurifier has ensured a small but tangible improvement in sonic performance giving itself now a secure and well deserved place in our audio chain. To conclude, if you are looking for a small accessory with great potential you certainly won’t be disappointed when purchasing it. I can sincerly say that it’s a product that I would highly recommend.”

Sir_Pierre's Candy Bag in Sweden gets his mitts on the full iFi range and goes ga ga

Sir_Pierre blogs about "big boys toys" from Rolex Submariner > Crocodile Shoes. Well, Sir-Pierre had a huge delivery of the iFi range from the nano to the micro to the iRACK.

Adjective and expletives galore!
"SH ** T!" and "I do not want to stop listening" and "What a sound!! I kid you not! I love my headphones .. But I NEVER thought that they could perform like this!

It IS HOW I want to see the movie .. Or play games .. WHAT A SOUND!

Wow ... That was ... Wow .. out of body experience ...

Thanks to Sir_Pierre and Transient Design (AMR/iFI: Sweden) for this wonderful write-up.

iFi iDAC review by Francesco Donadel Campbel - the editor in chief of HDPhonic

" we were able to appreciate a good level of detail and an equally high ability to place the individual instruments of the scene on the virtual stage. The sound source is returned cleanly, transparently and with a good resolution. The voice playback is also of a quite good level....We may thus define the iDAC as an all-rounder, able to adapt to all different genres of music and all different types of audio formats available today.... We noticed a slight but perceptible tendency, at least with audio files in standard resolution, to soften the sound spectrum in the most extreme parts, making it more enjoyable with less refined recordings. On the other hand, with high-resolution files it seemed that the iDAC meets an appropriate degree of transparency, providing an even better sense of realism and a finer grit: the scene widens and becomes even deeper....Its compatibility with high definition music, enables the average user to get close to refined listening without spending a fortune."

Positive Feedback Online - iFi Audio iUSB Power a Writers' Choice 2013

"I've used the iFi iUSB power supply with seven different USB DACs (CEntrance DACport LX, iFi iDAC, HRT Music Streamer II, Audioquest Dragonfly, Wyred4Sound mDAC, Headroom Total BitHead and the USB input of the great new Wyred4Sound mPRE preamp) and three different notebook PCs over the past year and truth be told, it made every one of them sound clearly and substantially better.

The improvements in overall quality are profound enough that I can't imagine running a USB DAC without it. You just don't realize how noisy and congested a USB DAC might be when powered straight from a PC's USB port until you hear one running noise free powered by this clean dedicated power supply.

To paraphrase Joni Mitchell, you don't know what you've got till it's gone. Simply put, an essential part of a USB based computer audio system."

thank you Steve Lefkowicz!

The iFi Audio Gemini USB cable - One Cable To Rule Them All?

Adventures in HiFi Audio finds Gemini USB cable “…offered the best sound quality I have currently had yet from my computer audio set up”

“When you do open the box you will find a beautifully packed cable, nestled within a black velvet bag and the connector ends protected with both end caps and the metal parts wrapped in bubble wrap. This was certainly a good start and hopefully augured a good sonic experience with the cable….Doing the comparison again with the Wireworld Starlight the Gemini was now in every aspect the superior conduit for all the music I listened to. The iFi cable was more open, more detailed in all areas with a wider deeper soundstage and better bass extension, nuance and phrasing, and all of this achieved without any spotlighting.”

Thank you Neil K, editor of Adventures in HiFi Audio!

The iFi Schiiiiit experience - but in a very good way.

"Spoiler alert: The ifi stuff isn't getting sent back."

Customer G8YU reviewed the upgrade to his US$750 Schiit Gungnir - which sonically improved with the addition of the iUSB Power, the Gemini and the iPurifier.

"To sum up what these ifi products did for the sound. It was like moving from a seat that was rows back from the stage in an acoustically damped space to go up to the stage and hear a more immersive and alive sound with resolution and clarity.

This review ended up being longer than I expected. I hope those who are looking for info relevant to DAC USB inputs and iFi products find my experience descriptions helpful."

thanks G8YU! It is always nice to hear iFi is able to improve the products of other brands as the audio world is very small and we all like to help each other.

Note 3. I just need the OTG cable then I suppose. How do I get it to route to the iDSD instead?
