I've seen in recent reviews that the iCAN have been updated to include a gain switch. Can we as earliy adopter getting this upgrade as well?

We are working with iFi to allow current iCAN customers "upgrade" at a very small cost. :) Update later.

However do note that most customers who use the iCAN on headphones may not need the gain switch as it's design more for IEM users. There is no other change in sound.

Is the current batch of iCAN selling at Stereo already comes with the gain switch?
Thanks

Not yet but will be available soon. :) As mentioned, this gain switch will be more important to users who intend to use the iCAN with IEMs.

Thanks I am mainly using it for my IEM and grado. Hopefully the upgrade will be available soon.

If so, is it possible to exchange for the gain switch version?

Are you the one that bought the W3000 and iCAN combo? If yes, you are actually holding on to the new gain switch unit by accident as that was one of the few sample sets. Look underneath the unit and you should see the gain switch.

The ifi iusbpower has left the computer audio setup. Now it is used in conjunction with the iLink as a Level 3 upgrade to the Squeezebox touch in the hi fi set up!

iFi-audio - improve Squeeze Box Touch
Note the ilink replaces the idac in the chain.

One thing to note about iLink with JET on, limited to 24/96. With JET off, full HD bandwidth 24/192 is possible through the coaxial connectors.

Now the ican is cold storage, driving the senn HD700 with the yulong sabre DA8's headamp instead as it sounded cleaner.

Hopefully stereo can come out with an upgrade plan to the new ican with gain switches, then I can go try out again.

Using this thread to ask a question:

Anyone bought the iUSBpower + iDAC together? When connecting both devices together, did your system able to detect the DAC every time you restart the PC?

The ilink is also a seen as dac to the computer, so I have no issue with iusbpower + ilink, no problem with going from iusbpower + nuforce udac2 SE too. Using Windows 8 here.
