Assume inheritance tax x%… if apply this x% to all group….then this way will be fair Tio Bo?
:ROFLMAO:

no, fairest is 100% or 0%.

everyone's idea of fair is warp.

ultimately people doing better than them must tax more , regardless. just as long as they themselves are Not taxed More..

humans are just pure selfish. honesty many are evil to the core. don't deserve anything good in life. and somehow I really think there is karma .

these people who are like this or sprouting nonsense will get it worse.

The rich are resourceful lei. They will always have a way to Siam tax one.
All major assets in a registered company. Move generational wealth is just like changing directors. Companies are immortal.

Do onshore good liao. Some of us have family offices registered BVI and Grand Cayman for a bit less transparency.

Actually, the BSD/ABSD is taxed so heavily that it's almost like a 'pre-inheritance' tax

Smart gahmen, collect money first before death. Why wait 30-60 years until they die.

According to a study by Savills, Singapore ranks highest in the world for total stamp duty rates for a foreigner looking to buy a residential property
Still so many come here to buy

Easier way to raise tax and force the rich to pay:

A family having 2nd car will pay 2x COE for 2nd car, 5x COE for 3rd, 10x COE for 4th and so on, etc. This will generate much more tax revenue and nobody can complain cos every additional car a family owns deprives another family of a much needed car, so the former should contribute more to nation building

Inheritance tax = bad idea which will deter the rich from making Sg their base

If so....maybe try to find a place without taxes.... will be happier there... 😂

There are taxes everywhere . But not everywhere allow some peepur to suggest taxes on others but not themselves. Luckily singapore isnt one of them. I dont think you will ever be happy in singapore 🤣

is it gd or bad for sg

alot of poor need halp
First question to ask is WHO will have huge inheritance? The RICH or the AVERAGE? Next question to ask is WHO does these RICH include? Do they include the POLICY makers? The final question is, doesn't they want to protect their wealth?

Teaches children the invaluable life skills…this is more important. :ROFLMAO:

Don't try to be a smart aleck to tinker with our tax system.

We already have very simple taxation through income and GST.

Other countries have simi capital gain and estate taxes also.

The capital gain taxes is just a mess when you buy sell stocks or cryptos frequently.

All these add more administrative and headache to both regulators and payers. Ask those in the EU and US. lol

Many lau unkers (some in EDMW) are holding onto their terrace houses even though they are cash poor and have trouble maintaining those houses, because they think that if they leave the houses to their kids/ grandkids they will be loved and remembered forever and ever.

You introduce an inheritance tax you will break their hearts early cos their kids/ grandkids will tell them to sell the landed and cash out and go live in old folks' home while gradually and quietly distributing the cash to the kids/ grandkids as gifts/ allowances.

I agree with this, given that COE is supposed to discourage car use

lol really nonsense.

Those are all automated and don't need to counter check much. Each citizen don't usually do much transactions in their lifetime.

Estate and cgt all need some form of verification. Each person can have multiple overseas or local assets and multiple trades.

U can only tax the dead once, it's better to tax them when they are alive, every year. 😁

No matter how high, it's still low
Cos why are foreigners buying properties in Singapore
No. It's not racist to say that
