Amaze MYR rates are actually quite bad, but can't complain since there is no direct competitor

Time taken for my recent Amaze wallet top-ups has been quite shocking.

1 hour, and the other transaction took 1.5 hours!

Just wait until one of these fintechs go belly up - the time taken to get your money back will be really shocking!

(I'm not just taking a shot at NIUM - all these fintechs are suspect and caveat emptor when it comes to leaving any credit balances in their wallets).

damn, I got some overseas charges reversed and charged again for dunno what reason, and i am at the losing end again with the currency exchange (even reserved and charged again within mins during midnight). Losing a couple of dollar for such transaction that is not even triggered by me...

I am able to add ICBC Global Travel card to Amaze. Wasn't able to before

It is not worth to do it. Using ICBC Global Travel can get 3% cashback, deduct 2.5% fee, also has +0.5% cashback. Using amaze, you get 1.5% cashback, but amaze's rate includes around 1.8% fee, your actual cashback is -0.3%, even plus 0.5% amaze cashback, only +0.2%

yes already can few months earlier, no reason to though, using the card direct for overseas spend is better than adding to Amaze
why not use this card via Amaze for foreign currency online transaction or using Amaze card physically paired with this card? You get better fx rates AND 3% rebate.

Isn't it better than using this ICBC card directly either online or when overseas?

you are applying the fees twice no?

Eg say USD/SGD now is 1.37. Amaze rate is 1.8% so the rate is 1.394. After ICBC 3% rebate, that rate will be 1.352?

And I getting something wrong?

Before this card, I am pairing with Citibank Rewards which gives only 2.23% cash rebate.

If merchant refund to my amaze card, but it’s $6-$7 short of the original amount charged. Am I able to dispute the fx exchange loss?

you can try, but i expect them to tell you that it is expected. i stopped using amaze charge to card for transactions that i'm not sure if i will refund in future because of this. if using wallet, the difference is still negligible

Ya I did it twice to check and lost 10plus. Stopped using it ever. Plenty of other options.

Which credit cards don't give an FX exchange loss on refunds? Whenever I get a refund it normally seems to result in a loss. (Spread/fees etc requires a large FX gain to offset which doesn't usually happen).

Its true that other cards probably will have the same effect if u refund. Or not, I'm not sure.

But Just for the spite of it i decided not to use it. I have been using amaze for maybe 2 years, and they have gradually reduced their benefits, and with this, it is the last straw.
