but did you get charged? I used it at malaysia to pay for petrol, it was charged but cashier say system fail so do it again. and tell me wait for reverse.
and my bill statement come liao. how long should i wait for it to reverse before i appeal?
its been 1 week .
Yes, I got charged (i.e. the transaction posted to Instarem and to my linked credit card) and it was reversed. It happened at two different airports. Story for both is identical:
The POS machine said that there was a system failure. It printed a receipt saying that. At the same time though, the Instarem notification said that the charge had been made. The linked credit card also sent an alert a few seconds later saying that the charge had been made.
So about 10 minutes later, I sent a photo of the system failure receipt to Instarem (through the app "Help Centre" -> "Enquiries") explaining what had happened. They responded that I should wait for the charge to be reversed. What that means is that when the duty free shop at the airport consolidates its day's sales and sends them for clearing to their bank, my failed charge will be registered as a failed transaction and not be claimed. That is what happened. About a day later, Instarem wrote to me in response to my "Enqury" in the app that the charge has been reversed. Another 12 hours later, a charge for the same EUR and SGD amounts showed in the app with a line in red saying "Payment Reversed".
My linked credit card also saw two charges: one with the debit and another with a credit for the same amount 2 days later. No SGD difference.
On the whole, I am very impressed with Instarem customer service for their prompt responses and saying what exactly to expect to happen. Touch wood, all went well.
