What's stopping gamers with no budget to use Xeon CPUs for gaming?

Cause its slow. Its just 3GHz.......If they have a 12 core 4GHz Xeon, its great for gaming. But only 3GHz.....More cores don't make any difference in gaming.

If Intel allow overclocking, confirm I want.

The frequency doesn't means it'll be slower.. maybe there is some architecture or IPC improvements?

Only benchmarks will tell.

When you can afford this, other thing like slow in game etc doesn't really matter at all. :D :s13:

after doing research and some reading, this is why I won't be getting - unless its for production purposes

how many application or games really use more than 4-6 cores? If price is not an issue ard 3kUSD per cpu (due to low yield) and need to indent so quite troublesome to hoot too....lol

I think a 6 core processor should be more than sufficient for most users.

I would rather wait for Haswell E, and the cheapest one with 6 cores would be sufficient already.

But why pair a top end CPU with a budget mobo? It is like driving a F1 car along the CTE...

i only say that a budget mobo also can be used to play games. pairing with gaming mobo is for its features and better power phase nia...

so unless u want to OC?

whats the point of getting gaming mobo?

somemore this cpu is meant for workload anyway.

Simply put it this way...

Its not about gaming, its not about the processing power.
Its the right to brag, the right to own one.

Same analogy, buying lambo aventador to drive in SG roads?
No you buy it simply to show it off and the ability to have 1.
