tldw b580 1-2% slower @ 1080p, 7% faster at 1440p. these results are with a 98x3d tho, so with any other cpu, the results for b580 would be less favourable, especially at 1080p. pricing locally still doesnt make a whole lot of sense, though it might still be worth it to get over the 4060 for the larger 12gb vram.

also:

seems quite promising for 1440p native gaming, even with a slower cpu, tho this is a smaller set of games and we may see a reduction once using a larger sample as seen with the b580. still, if it lands around s$350, it could be a good buy over the amd and nv cards for the similar performance but larger vram buffer.

1. doubt b570 will be brought in officially. But, we will see.

2. The reason why you test GPUs with a 9800X3D is to see what is the uncapped potential of the GPU being tested because the 9800X3D does not bottleneck any GPU, even a 4090.

3. A B580 can be overclocked to 3150mhz easily in which case it will beat a 4060 ti in most cases and that's not even with serious overclocking. Plus, the 12gb vram on a good, cheap card.

4. For gamers gaming at 1440p, b580 is a no brainer if you aren't willing to spend more than S$400 and you are say, at least on a Ryzen 5000 series. Come on, we are already at Ryzen 9000. If you are on Ryzen 3000 or less, just do a CPU upgrade to a 5000 series if you are on AM4. Its dirt cheap.

5. For Ryzen 7000 or better, a 7500F or a 7400F is cheap too.

Agreed, for 1440p, its the better choice vis-a-vis the competitors at that price range.

Seems like b580 is slower than the competition if u are using a Ryzen 5600 at 1080p.......

https://www.techspot.com/review/2940-intel-arc-b580-rereview/

And to really let it fly vs the competition, the referenced article recommends:
'For the Arc B580 to maintain the excitement we initially had for it, it really needs to be paired with a Ryzen 5 7600, Core i5-13600K, or a better CPU. Using the B580 with slower CPUs significantly diminishes its value and, depending on the games you play, could completely negate it.'

Perhaps that is why Aftershock is now offering the option of upgrading to a Ryzen 7600 to pair with the b580, instead of going with the 5600.

AM4 is long in the tooth liao. Still on DDR4 some more.
If upgrading to AM5, just get the cheapest chip and everyone will be fine (7400F ; 7500F).
Probably S$150+ on carousel.

But, i would really consider spending more and going for the latest gen 9600X which runs cooler (cheapest I seen it is S$278).

thats literally the exact same thing u said about b580 :s22:

mostly true (98x3d can still be a bottleneck in certain scenarios). but while most other midrange gpus dont lose too much performance when using a slower cpu, battlemage needs at least a somewhat fast cpu to remain competitive. its good that there are reviews that now include the slower 5600, so at least there is a point of reference for users that the battlemage gpus are actually targeting (if u can afford the 98x3d, surely u can afford a high end gpu).

if the b580 remains out of stock, then the b570 isnt too bad of a deal either if it is available. but even used 5600s are $100 nowadays, so ur probably better off getting a 77xt when combining ur cpu upgrade budget into ur gpu budget which is a faster and more well rounded card (u still wont fully unleash the b580 with the 5600).

u add in cost of mobo and ddr5, is basically doubling the cost vs if u bought just the gpu alone.

performance uplift is not very noticeable (<5%) for the extra $130 or so spent. 7500f/7600 are not difficult to cool either.

Hence, "but, we will see".

B570, on an absolute basis, the price drop isn't really worth it to have 2GB less vram and the reduced core count. So, i am not sure if tech dynamic will bother. And, they are literally only doing 1 specific model and nothing else.

I am heading overseas in abit.
I am wondering if i should get an ASRock steel legend B580 overseas (if its at MSRP). I just like the design and it may overclock even better than my challenger model. Literally just for fun and the fact that i can probably sell my challenger model at the exact S$388 i paid .

But, 9070 XT coming out (supposed 4080 performance at US$???? ; perhaps US$499? US$450?).

I really do like the RTX 5000 FE 2 slot designs though......

Price markup above msrp because it is obviously better than 4060 in all reasonable cases.

definitely not worth that much, an early stage product should be at least $50 less than a mature product.

B580 is an excellent choice. Try carousell and you can save abit on what is basically brand new. Cheapest I see is $370 for B580 challenger. Functionally equivalent to steel legend in performance.

now the hype is on 5080 and 5090. People forgetting dec’s launch of what is basically the best graphics in the budget segment that the world has had in a long time. If you can even say 1440p60fps quite consistently is ‘budget’.
