Sorry ya if I say something wrong and I am not good at memory tweaking, simply I just refuse to believe the 5ns worth of a change Mobo and what Asus can't do compare to MSI in high end Mobo category really glad you found the solution

No lah no worries, any help is appreciated. It turns out that I forgot to fix my ring. Once that was done it straightened out quite a bit. Removing aquasuite also improved latency, but it's a bit of a moot point since I will always use aquasuite.

Hmm can't say for sure whether w11 > w10 but it is slightly better at scheduling the cores and has slightly better performance. End of the day I think it just boils down to which OS you prefer.

Micron eh? They're damn hard to tweak but it should be able to go 70ns.

Increased ring to 4.2, tightened some tertiaries. Finally broke into sub 55ns. Will probably work a bit more on it see how far I can get it but this is probably 95% there already.

Optimus block delivery sadly has logistic delays with UPS (now stuck in China). Once that arrives I'll compare the two and decide which goes into the system

How? Mine is micron. About 80ns.

Buildzoid says the micron sticks can only run ~5400MHz max, only way out is probably to buy better sticks.

By tuning it lah haha need to research, make some mistakes, correct those mistakes, push a bit more here and there. Here's a before and after of a decent tune for micron from a friend. I've seen people on overclock.net push micron to like 65ns

Oh need to adjust the timing.

I lazy, use gigabyte default micron overclock profile to 5400, but at cl40.

Yes micron. I only run them at 5200 CL40. Didn't really push them to the extreme cos worried RMA no ram haha

Got to play with some 6000c36 base sticks. Slightly better bin than 5600c36, got 6400c34 2T stable. With slightly faster ram I could hit 23k, 5.2ghz all core.

Managed to buy 6000c40 32gb kit.

Nice. I could get my 5600c36 ram to 6400c32 but not fully stable. Benches fine though.

Current stable ram timings; as good as I can bring it to be now. Probably could lower voltage down to 1.4 but did 1.45 just to make sure everything is fine. SPDhub temps maxed out 56C w/ ram fan.

Bios still needs alot of work though.
XMP is still borked unless you use XMP1 but that also varies from system to system. Still putting my 12900k together with the Apex board. Hopefully I can get somewhere with my 6000C40 kit. Safedisk had a 6000C40 kit and that was Hynix but I found out it was made for him specifically with the Hynix chipset. I think scarcity on Hynix DDR5 exists because all the AIBs are currently hoarding and binning them. Even the Hynix value rams are so hard to get and even they clock so well. I'm guessing even if you could get the Hynix ones once they are out, it will be 700-800 bucks SRP easily maybe even more.

If you even look at DDR5 prices right now, it's already easily 100 more bucks over what we paid for. So it's going to get ridiculous getting decent DDR5's down the road. Of course no one really wants Microns either.

Definitely will want hynix. I've some on backorder but idk it it'll be fulfilled...

Xmp 1 is better than 2 anyway. The board will do better calibration than factory. Though xmp kinda moot for me since I tweaked everything.

My z690 aorus pro got issues overclocking g.skill z5 ram. Just found out they release 2 bios already to address ram compatibility.
Downloaded and updated to 7a. Will try again.
Because now I can only get my 6000c40 to stable at 6000c36.
Can’t even run 6200 at even up to 1.42v

Nice, I give up liao on my 6000C40.

Update mobo bios still unstable at anything above 6000. Wait for Gigabyte to solve the problem. But seems like not only gigabyte have this problem with DDR5. I googled and a few manufacturers have problem with compatibility with some rams not just g.skill.

Hi there,

Apologies for the long post. I need for some helps on understanding 12900K core speed.

System:

1. CPU: Intel 12900K
2. MB: ASUS TUF Z690 WIFI D4
3. Memory: G.Skill trident neo 3600C16 16GB*2 running on SPD setting
4. PSU: Corsair HX1200
5. AIO: Arctic Liquid Freezer II 360

I just received the 1700 bracket yesterday and finally the 12900k will not thermal throttling.

My understanding: 12900K is able to to run single core up to 5.2Ghz

My observation:

1. CPU draw 240+w power with Cinebench R23 with all cores running at 4.9Ghz and scores around 26600 on multi core test. CPU temperature: 85C
2. CPU draw 65+w power with Cinebench R23 with core speed flicking between 4.9Ghz to 5.0Ghz and scores around 1800 on single core test.

Thoughts and additional information:

1. To my reading, my scores are lower than general reviews available on internet.
2. 2. CPU core speed can reached to 5.1Ghz for short period only when CPU is idle.
3. I am using all default bios settings, currently on version 0807 latest. Based on my experience, the observation did not change with the bios version.
4. I tried to down voltage -0.08 for CPU which makes it to run at 1.19 volts. Now Cinebench R23 only draw 200w on multi core test and scores the same results as 265xx-266xx with temperature dropped to 72C
5. CPU-z reports multiplier (8 - 51) . There is no 52? why?
6. In bios, I saw the information there are two cores should be able to boost to 5.2Ghz.

I am not sure if my CPU is working fine, or could some one explain how could I boost my core speed to 5.2Ghz
