I guess very likely Skylake will be a ddr4-only platform.

Skylake and Broadwell are using 14nm process.
If Broadwell having yield issue, same for Skylake.

On top of that, Intel usually follows tick tock model. There is also no competition from AMD. So no hurry to release Skylake.

Meanwhile, get a DC and enjoy.

The article mentioned that the yield of SL could be better than Broadwell, hence SL is NOT being pushed back.


But they is no unlocked variant until maybe 2016, where they could have release it together in Q2 2015. This is what happen when there is no competition. Technology process will be slowed for profit marketing.
