intel i7 vs i5

I don't get it. How does upgrading from i5 to i7 extends your processor usability by minimum 3 years? You mean to say if a person don't buy i7, games/videos will bottleneck 3 years earlier?

I mean current era CPUs useful life last at least 3 years easily, 5 years is also possible, why save $100 for an inferior i5 chip over these 3-5 years? To me it's penny-wise pound-foolish.

It's not like 1999 where you buy Celeron 300A overclock 50% for the same performance of Pentium III for 1/4 the price, and both become obsolete anyway just 2 years later.

if u record or stream yr gameplay i7 would be better right? saving grace for jash bro. if im not wrong pubg thrives on more cores too. tts why i depends on yr cpu too. but for one game might not be really worth it. my company provides me a i5 and sometimes i need to open autocad drawings and also some editing work. really damn slow. ram also only 8g -.-

Yeah but if you are doing normal gaming and hitting 200 fps on a 1080ti + i5, chances are, the i7 + 1080ti will give similar results. So after 5 years, you still pay 100 bucks more for difference which you can't see or feel. Might as well save the 100 for your next rig?

TBH, for that usage, using ryzen is a much better option. In this scenario, yes i7 is the superior chip and you can feel the difference with the extra 100 bucks.
