Intel LAN VS Killer LAN

Using the Killer LAN network.

When my games are put in 'Highest' priority, the pings will go up to as much as 700ms. When I switch to a tier lower to 'High' goes back to normal 30ms.

Emailed them twice with attached logs that they have requested and got no replies. Waited for a new/updated driver to be released after 6 months already still nothing. Hopeless.

Guess it's better off sticking with Intel/Realtek NIC since they have been around for a longer period of time and thus should have better driver support.

Maybe cisco or some badass manufaturer oreadi got F/O NIC but not available to general consumer

I am referring to the bypassing of ISP equipment and directly into F/O ready routers...

There are already gurus running F/O under lan condition.

You really wanna low latency... buy a lease line Metro E with an SLA from the ISP. You wan true QoS get a BlueCoat PacketShaper or Riverbed steelhead on both ends...

Already known issue. Just DL bare drivers and don't touch their "prioritization" software.

It's like messing around with process priority and processor affinity in task manager. You're just gonna make things potentially slower because naturally, Window's task scheduler is already efficient at handling stuff its own.

What NIC one uses doesn't matter. MSI uses Killer in their Gaming series only so that they have a better marketing strike to sell their products to gamers who don't know much about hardware.

A cheapo Realtek NIC connected to a 100Mb uplink will own an Intel NIC connected to a 99Mb uplink. You get the idea, end of story.

Distro is trying hard to promote the highlights of their flagship boards.

They should promote any outstanding feature instead of highlighting features that can be found on other cheaper models from other brands. Almost every other brands have alc1150 with isolated path as well as killer/intel nic for their mainstream lines.

Unfortunately the only highlight is the inflated local price.

yeah that's what i think so too. if it's been sorted in the upstream, does it matter which nic we use?

I guess the main draw for PC based QoS is that your PC is much much more powerful than your router to do DPI... Turning QoS on in some routers really kills the router's performance..

Singapore ISPs is the limiting factor. EvenI splurge 20k on a dedicated surfing multiplayer machine also cant do well.

QoS is not loosely used in here - it just means a general term of the preferred priority of service in this context.

Unless u wish to classified deeply into which layer 2 or 3 and header u want to encapsulate (end to end). Otherwise I see nothing wrong in using qos in here. Anyway even layer 7 can be prioritize these days e.g. Cisco NBAR or sonicwall appflow... I can go on and on.... But that's not the point.

U r not the only person here that knows all these technical jargons... So don presume ur knowledge can pwned and label everyone as hilarious or retarded... It just makes u look damn silly as well... Lol
