Koss portapro have better vocals separation and much more detail. Extremely portable, not to mention .... proven to survive in the headphone world for 25 years!!!! If u can push your budget a bit more, aim for the limited edition portapro....

Koss protapro is not bad but I would rather upgrade to the Ultrasone HFI-15G than the limited version of protapro, seems other than the thicker wire, sound it almost the same to the original. I'm a previous protapro fans and have upgraded to the Ultrasone hfi15 ever since, you can audition it at stereo.

I'll suggest you to spend just a bit extra for the FC700 because that little money will make a different. What colour will you get?

Just bought the ATH-ESW9 today, and it sounds awesome! But burnt quite a big hole in my pocket. Burnt $350 to be exact. :(

congrats, that's a good phone, the ESW9!

recabling means substituting the stock cables with cables made up of different materials, eg silver, which changes the sonic quality that comes out of the phones....not a cheap option though depending on who you go to....should be taken as an upgrade, not a necessity

Yeah, just googled about recabling and I think i'll hold that back until the hole in my pocket gets sealed back. :s13:

But is there really a vast difference after recabling? But I usually like my stuff stock and original. :s13:

I shall burn-in my ESW9 first then decide on the need for recabling. :D
