using AdBlock (paid) now but seems like recently its getting very slow... facebook to website... streetdirectory app always takes long time to load. :s22:

this adblock looks like a proxy/vpn. their servers prob can't cope with demand or maybe kena ddos...

just a heads up, Adguard also supports custom block list n is free. was able to block e crowdynews widget on mobile Safari...

^ thanks for this info. i use AdGuard on my android and is very effective. i would think it works well also in iOS.

r u referring to Android? cos content blockers in iOS only work for mobile Safari unless it is 1 of those proxy/vpn solutions...

the system wide blockers mentioned here like AdBlock (FutureMind) and AdGuard (Performix) are VPN solution, specifically, internal VPN or local VPN (not external, not internet based VPN).

internal VPN works only within the phone that effects filtering list, and is different from external VPN where there is a middleman or internet based (ie. services that hide IP, privacy, or those allowing to access netflix or whatever).

some posters here thinks these apps are external VPN, and it is not. that's why it conflicts on external VPN related apps. there's a difference.

AdBlock for iOS uses the VPN OnDemand feature. It installs a "dummy VPN" profile with a list of domains. The list of domains is controlled using the app. Every time some app tries to communicate with one of the blacklisted domains, it will automatically trigger a connection with the "dummy VPN" server (which is not a working VPN). This makes the connection impossible and results in ad being blocked in all kinds of apps.

VPN icon appears only when you are properly connected to a VPN server. Because AdBlock for iOS uses a non-existing ("dummy") VPN server address, iOS won't be able to connect to it. So there will be no VPN icon in the status bar at any point, and this is normal. You don't actually connect to a VPN server when using AdBlock for iOS.

AdBlock for iOS DOES NOT affect the security of your connection in any way. It DOES NOT connect you to a VPN server and we DO NOT proxy any of your traffic. Since there is no proper VPN server to route connection between your device and the ad server, the ads are not being shown. Everything happens right on your iOS device.

shud mention e apps u listed r all paid apps. though AdGuard has a free version that works nicely just as a Safari content blocker...

Thanks for the info. I haven't tried AdGuard on iOS and I didn't know the free version only filters Safari.

Yes they are paid. Its a small price to pay for huge benefit, in my opinion.

AdBlock from FutureMind costs USD2.

AdGuard from Performix costs USD1 (cheaper because they are new entrant on iOS, but I can attest their effectivity on Android). Also, the "legal" android is subscription based (ie. recurring payment on periods like yearly), so iOS is much better as its only one time payment.

Hey guys!

Any gold ad block that is good in the market now? Very confused and not sure which to get now. I see AdBlock can block ads in Apps as well?

Currently using Purify and seems like it can't block ads from apps. Also would like to block hwz crowdynews too. 😊

those that blocks systemwide (means everywhere, not only on safari) you need to pay.
oh, and its worth it. it should be the number 1 app you buy.

AdBlock from FutureMind costs USD2.

Weblock from FutureMind also costs USD2 but I don't know the difference. AdBlock is higher in the ranks and is more recently updated.

ADmosphere from FutureMind is FREE but only works in Safari.

Adguard from performix can block the stupid HWZ social media advert, ABP Adblock can't.

I find Adguard better as there are list I can choose from while ABP Adblock options are limited. Not sure if I should pay for the pro version.

Purify seems to have stopped blocking ads on HWZ, dropped them a PM and there is no action from them so far
