Just wanted to bring some attention to this lesser known feature of iOS 9, content blocking.

Main benefits

1. Faster page loading time
2. Consume less data (a godsend for those with 3gb data plans)
3. Costs less to view a page

The day of reckoning for mobile ads is coming. Combine the ad-blocker which blocks ads in safari on 4G and weblock which blocks ads in apps on wifi, you will never have to see another ad again :D:D

Weblock isn't free; Adblock is free & works very well.

Weblock costs just $1.99. Very much worth the price as it blocks ads in apps such as the straits times which continually shove ads into your face and also in pretty much any app that you download where they have this persistently annoying banner at the top.

The adblock you are referring to is just a 3rd party browser, not native to safari. Cum iOS 9, it will be native to safari and most importantly, easy to enable by merely just downloading an ad blocking app and toggling it on.

Nope, Adblock is not a browser, it's an app - do a search on App Store. Adblock is black in color.

Been using it since early this year when I got my 6+: excellent free app that blocks all ads & stops redirects to games, App Store etc. Go try it yourself.

Thanks for the intro. Tried it out and it seems to work by redirecting traffic through a VPN. I don't know about you but I'm not comfortable with all of my web traffic going through a middleman where its vulnerable.

I'll just wait for iOS 9 where there will be native ad blockers which block ads at the system level rather than through a middleman :)

so which one is the correct one to download? adblock or adblocker? I think there is 2 on apple store - one is black and one is red I think. The red one seems to have more reviews though based on apple store

I'm using Adblock, the black one - works very well. The red one is a browser: it doesn't block ads from other apps.

Running the iOS 9 beta and playing around with the crystal ad blocker for some time now. Works very well, you really feel the difference in performance when ads don't load on your page. Everything feels smoother as well. Definitely paying for it when it gets released. :)
